I once "thought" about voting for Ted Heath, when we had Foot as our leader and i was sick for a week.

I thought candidates were allowed to have one teller to hang around polling stations on election day - outside my voting portacabin there must have been about half a dozen blokes with Blue rosettes and later on nearer a dozen. The guy who approached me didn't seem to understand me when I said 'private ballot' to him.

Excuse my ignorance, but what is the purpose of those guys? Are they looking to form the basis of the exit polls? We had a few blues, a red and a yellow and a conveniently positioned 'Vote Labour' 3.5 tonne lorry just across the road.

Gary when a party does a canvass they know roughlet who will vote for them. they take your number so they know who as voted then they can chase up there supporters.

Cheers Roge. Interesting to note the Conservatives took both our numbers before we'd voted, without really saying or asking anything, so I'm presuming they'll be thinking we've voted blue?

They will have a list of every voter in the ward, if you have never been canvassed you would be put down as a no or maybe. I was running round all day picking up number slips and taking them back to hq.

got a little concerned when i saw a blue dot in the slough area of the country on the bbc election map, but was glad to see that it was runnymede. not many local councils to here are holding local elections this year.
