Matt H
I'm hoping Glen does another of his write-ups after tomorrow evening. I can't be there this week, but would be willing to put my vote(s) in via a PM.

Fosters
I would liked to have been a fly on the wall tonight as well. Rumour has it another meeting took place. Could it have been a preable for tomorrow? Maybe Jeff was doing the decent thing before jumping into deep water!
The Great Eckscape
As far as I am aware, the meeting the other day was between Jeff and people already officially associated with the club. We must now wait for the outcome to trickle down to us.

Hopefully that will come at tonight's meeting, or at least some direction as to where we will be next season. Tick tock, tick tock...This is all very anxious!

Matt H
There seems to be a few Canvey fans online tonight not at the Trust meeting for whatever reason. Anyone heard anything useful yet?
Yellow Bungle
I was only joking about Southend but after what I've heard tonight I might have to seriously consider it. At tonight's meeting I saw a lot of enthusiasm, a lot of hope, and a lot of people with the skills needed to maintain the football club. However, I saw very little reality. If we do drop as far as Essex Senior or regional divisions of the Isthmian, then the reduced crowds and entry fees will make it extremely unlikely that we can support a club at Park Lane. I understand that Jeff has the lease, but even if he lets it to us at a peppercorn, I don't see how we would be able to pay for maintenance or even the rates. The feeling I got was that a fair few of the people there tonight won't be going next season with Jeff as landlord. I'm not passing judgement but would like to think his actions in securing a 15 year lease were to safeguard the club and to allow us to use it for a nominal amount. If he plans to charge anything above that we need to consider alternatives, or perhaps play the commercial game ourselves. If Jeff doesn't let the ground to us, what use is it to anyone else? I understand that there are restrictions on the use of the land that may preclude residential use. Of course, if this is not the case and houses do get built, then at least it solves the riddle of why this has all happened. I was also surprised to hear that we weren't forming a Trust, and the reason was that Jeff wouldn't let the pitch to the club if a Trust were involved. Does this sound like the actions of someone who loves the club? I don't know, but I'm sure you all have your opinions. However, I do think that it time to treat Jeff as someone no longer involved with the club or assume that he remains to hold the club's interest foremost - he now has other concerns. So let's stop being gushing and sycophantic about what he has helped to achieve and view our relationship as commercial contract it has become. Well done to the guys at the front - we all know you will do your best, and no matter what happens or where we end up, we all appreciate your efforts. Amazing if this is the case and why should it bother Jeff if a Trust is running the club anyway now he is leaving? I was stuck at work till late and couldn't make the meeting unfortunately but sitting here reading this my heart is sinking. Was Jeff or any of the players there tonight? Was anything asked about the Chelmsford situation? Resigning from the Conference? What was resolved and what is now known? I am sure the answers to all these questions and more will be answered shortly by others who were there and I look forward to reading them. Yellow Bungle
Limited company being set up to run for us, with Glenn etc as directors. On of the directors will hold the share. Personally, I think we should set up a trust behind the Ltd and if Jeff don't like it he can find another tennant.
South Mouth
Well i've been holding back until i heard what was happening at this meeting but if the case is that Jeff wont let us have the ground if a trust in formed then what does this say about the man? Does this sound like a man who loves the club and doesn't want to see it die. He buys a 15 year lease so to keep all of us on his doggy lead and he is making all of us suffer because of money. I dont believe the story about the lack of support and i've spoken to a lot of people who agree. You cant make people come if they are not made to be welcome in the first place which is the impression i get from everyone who knows him and isn't licking his ar*e like a lot of people at this club. Afraid of putting his nose out of joint. He has always looked after number one and has used past success and possible banning from the club to scare us into following his lead and not having a go. How can people possibly stick up for a man who wants to give up a club he built up so quickly for a bit more money in his fat wallet? It makes me mad. Think about it. He is letting us go and making us fend for ourselves with no time to do it in and to make things worse, he is ripping the heart out of the club and taking it to Chelmsford. All for money. What do you think would happen if Jose Morinho and Abramovich both moved to Real Madrid and took the coaching staff and Lampard, Cole, Drogba, Terry, Robben and Makelele? There would be uproar and the same goes for any club at any level. It is all about greed and he is doing this and is gonna use our ground as ransom so we dance to his tune. Leo
So Jeff has watched the likes of Glen etc. work their balls off attempting to get a Trust up and running, knowing he wasn't going to let it actually happen? All the people signing up to a Trust, tables at Park Lane etc. and Jeff knew he was just going to blow this out of the water when the time was right for him to do so eh? I have great respect for what Jeff King has done for Canvey Island FC but if this is the way he treats the club he claims to love, then frankly my respect just went out of the window.
