The Clear Outs Have Started

Yes, I see that Canvey hope to play their current reserve team as next season's first team in what ever league they get assigned to. I wish them good luck in the difficult times that undoubtedly await them.

Rumours...........surely not !

I await to get official confirmation from a reliable source i.e. Dave H.

Thought you had given up on GNFC anyway FF ? ( apologises to your minder WVN if I have upset him by talking to you !)

Anyway, now that the season has finished, good luck to the Hammers on Saturday....are you going to the game ?

Cheers,

Never said given up, merely chose to watch some football elsewhere.

WVN isn't my minder - I can fight my own battles.

And yes, I have a ticket for Cardiff!

kerr is on a 2 year contract i understand but would get rid of

The club website said when he joined that he'd signed a one-year deal.

Even if your preference is for getting rid of him, surely this is dependent on whether Craig signs for next year?

EDIT: A further update: 2005/2006 Conference top scorer Andy Bishop joins Bury.

Of the remainder, Jacko will be the greatest loss to the club and fans - he IS G&N, lives, it, breathes it and is a true fan.

More telling, he gets over injuries in 2 weeks that keep others on the side for months.

My "sources" hint he is Welling bound.

MacCarthy looks past his sell by date, classy, but poor temperament, and slower than Nathan Bunce.

Kerr looked promising, but TWO full time keepers at a club on gates of 1100!! NO WAY. He needs regular football, and it simply woul not happen for him here unless Craig breaks a leg.

And as quoted by Roly Edwards:

"It is a sad day when players of their standing walk away from the club, but we all understand that these things happen in football, we wish them well”

NO WE DO NOT UNDERSTAND WHY PLAYERS LIKE JAY, SKINS AND MACCA HAVE TO WALK AWAY!!!

One would hope Liam has a few cards up his sleeve - this is a complete eradication of our midfield. Macca was, I suppose, much to be expected, Saunders was rumoured as being on his way, though part-time or not he's a big loss. Drury's contract hiccups are well-known, and I suppose if he wasn't happy with a full-time offer from the club, he was deemed surplus to requirements.

I guess Rawle was deemed to not have proved himself. This seems to be a bigger rebuilding job than last summer... but I guess the budget's certainly been trimmed to make way for some new blood!

So, in midfield, we are left with, AT THE MOMENT, Slatter, Jacko and Fuller. No news on Brad Johnson, but judging by the good progress he has made, Northampton would be foolish to release a firey, gutsy, tenacious, goalscoring 18 year old, who is learning his trade quickly and well.

And we though we had problems with our striker.

Well, Skins' departure is hardly a surprise, of course, and McKimm's was widely expected too, but it's still sad to see it confirmed after their fine displays for us over the last five years. As for the others:

Mark Rawle: Another player to fall foul of the boo-boys to an extent. People questioned his first touch, but he looked good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play, and a striking partnership between him and Charlie could have been profitable. Since this was never able to happen during the season just gone, it's a little disappointing to see Mark go, since we'll never find out whether it would have worked or not.

Andy Drury: One of our most creative players, and certainly more consistent now than he was when he first joined. Also put in plenty of running, although not according to some, who for some reason found him lazy and disinterested. It's a shame he's left, really.

Jay Saunders: Along with Bowry, the biggest loss of them all. I'll never forget some of his superb performances in 2004/2005, with some fine goals, particularly the late consolation at Tamworth. Looked to be getting back to form of late, too, after his injury.

Best of luck to them all. Of course, my disappointment at these departures may be softened by strong replacements for these players. Time will tell - a lot of experience has been lost today, and that will surely have to be replaced at least to an extent. Let's just hope Jacko remains.

Again, it's probably best to hold judgement on this one until we know whether or not Craig is staying.
