5 is incorrect.

Correct. Late January 1984 if my memory serves me. I remember buying the single in Boots for £1.25. (I was 8)

 

That's the second bit of 1984 Number Ones trivia we've had on here today. In fact, the four number one's mentioned (Pipes Of Peace, Relax, 99 Red Balloons and Hello) were all consecutive number ones (I think!)
