Rivals?

Recommended Posts

Lately, and due to pretty obvious reasons quite a strong rivalry has built up towards Canvey Island. I remember a few years ago now a similar rivalry towards Sittingbourne.

My own personal point of view is that although unfortunately we don’t face them regularly in competitive matches I still see Dartford and Gillingham as our rivals.

What does everyone else think?

Historically, of course, Dartford have always been our rivals, the home and away Christmas fixtures of years ago were particularly fiesty affairs. Canvey and Scumville came and went and are now pretty irrelavent and I've never felt that Gillingham and the Fleet had a great rivalry. Personally, the one team that I always wanted us to beat and who agrevated me more than any other were Maidstone. And of course the lasting memory of the yellow and black team is the debacle at Dartford...nuf said

I don't think you can blame Margate for the linesmans mistake, I'm sure we would have gratefully accepted it if it had been at the other end.

Also its no good hating someone if they don't hate you back and i think most Margate fans would put Dover way above us on their hate list.

In an ideal world Dartford and Maidstone would both be in the same league as us and get relegated every year.
