letter in the times

Recommended Posts

An excellent letter too if I might say so June & Graham. A good summing up indeed. Just sorry that a once "great" of days gone by couldnt see the move in the same light.Still,it is to be expected that some are still going to see things only from what it looks like on the surface.

Sorry I should have addressed my reply to Graham only I suppose.I included you in that post June solely because you were posting at the time plus the fact that you are a couple.I take it you may not be in agreement with Graham then? Whether you are or whether you're not the letter he sent in mirrors my thoughts on the subject & thats why I think the letter was well put, obviously.

Just read both letters, i agree with cookie its a pity people, especially of Mr Harrops influence in the game who once had allegiance to the club have drifted so far away give vent to such un informed views. I also thought Grahams reply to previous correspondence in the Thanet Times was very much to the point.

I think everyone is entitled to there own views including Mr Harrop. The manner in wich CK left was very disapointing, after his loyalty to the club. However he seemed to have lost his passion often slumped against the dugout quiet, during games. Refused to change formation and rarely used subs. I was gutted it came to an end like it did. Trotty seems to have the passion and hunger we need. And has my support, just hope he can find the sort of players CK used to. Not to mention turn average players into gate heros.

I am sure Trotty can and will find the players we need,I just hope the powers that be give him a buget good enough to do this.IMO,it would not be fair to tell him to get us out of this league, but ,there is no money for him to do this.KP has already said that CK got us to the Conf; on players that came from lower leauges, that is true but teams like that come round few and far between,IMO Trotty NEEDS the cash backing from the directors if what they say they really want,Promotion to Conf;South.

Agree Tony, and world has moved omn since CK took us to conference on very restricted budgets.

The successful teams have reasonable spending power these days.

Not necessarily the biggest budgets who get out of the league, but certainly if you are not one of the top six 'spenders' you realy have no chance of progressing

Since we got promotion to the conference all those years ago non-league football has come a long way and now to be a successful non-league club you have to have a good financial backing compared to when we won the Southern league in 2001 when you had to deal with what you had. Look at where a lot of them players who was in that team now and then you may realise that it is as easy as what it used to be.

The budget might be being drawn up as we speak. The board meeting to appoint Trotty was last Weds so it could be that tonight is the night for next season's budget. It is important to keep in with the big spenders of the league if we are to challenge. The league will be very competitive next season with Chelmsford spending big with Jeff King, Bromley with Goldberg's cash, Billericay, AFCW, Heybridge & then Fisher or Hampton. Maybe Horsham & Dover as well if they come up.
