...to Wivenhoe. Not just for beating us in the semi play off but for the way in which they have turned their season around. It was only a few months ago that they looked like they would end up battling against relegation. To now be on the brink of promotion is a great achievement. Your supporters were a great bunch yesterday and I hope you go on and win against Stamford.

I thought Wivenhoe were a good side when we narrowly beat them 2-1 at home last month.

 

I hope Wivenhoe go on to win.I bet Stamford can't believe their luck.They thought they would get us away.Now they have got Wivenhoe at home.Can't see stamfords ground being up to scracth to get promoted though.

I thought Stamfords ground was ok, in fact I liked it, good club house, nice little tea hut undercover on the side terracing, not the best but certainly adequate to go up & a million times better than Ilford, Corby, Waltham Forest, & a few others in that league.

I would just like to add my thanks to all at Enfield Town for your hospitality on Saturday, not only to our club officials but also your great supporters. Obviously it was a great day for us but every single Dragons fan was so impressed at the end of the game, not only with the good banter had between the two sets of supporters (exactly how it should be) but also to see so many Enfield supporters around the players entrance clapping our team off.

 

The good nature between our clubs goes back many years (obviously as the old Enfield) and I can remember us turning up during the 1993/94 season at Southbury Road when you had a number of players suspended and that by us bringing our league game forward gave you three extra players for an important Trophy match you had on the following Saturday. I do recall you flew John Burridge down to play in goal that night as he was away, this we thought was hillarious as we had already conceded 8 against carshalton and 9 against St. Albans in previous weeks. You won 9-1 that night I seem to remember (JB did not have a sore back that night). Still we had about 25 of us chanting throughout the match.

 

I sincerely wish you all the best for the future, if we are succesfull on Saturday then great but if not we have the fixtures against you again next season to look forward to.

Not that i will begrudge Wivenhoe if they go up,BUT leaving a side the 19 points difference in our points tally, their goal difference was +2. Ours was +30.

 

How many teams have been promoted with a +2 goal difference? Wivenhoe could be creating history.

Just goes to show that winning promotion is all about how well a team does throughout the whole season.

It is interesting how often this happens.

I think it is a lot to do with mental attitude. The team who finish 6th can't believe their luck to be in that position and the team finishing 3rd are pi**ed off at not getting automatic promotion.

 

Just make sure that you are at Town next Season for the new challenge. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/boxing.gif" alt="" />
