Anyway,i fully supported the English contingent on the pitch during the Villarreal game.I cheered that Squirel ,as much as the next man.

The squirrel was a Grey Squirrel, which are not native to Britain. They are an American introduced species.

Ah.But the squirel born in Britain. So is a British citizen,is he not.I'm sure Brunob and his fellow Lefies couldn't argue with that?

If his ancestry could be traces you would probably find that there are more generations born in England that any other resident of this country. I believe they live no more than about 5 years and breed every year.

"Turned up" ? Do you mean "match fit"?
Or are you trying to say something else Duke?......

This is a difficult one to answer Gazza. I may be in for a slating after my response but here goes.....

I was irritated to find our no. 1 man not being available for our two biggest games of the season! I am fully aware there may have been complications away from footy that prevented him from playing. Some things in life are actually more important than football - a fan can't always see it this way when we are left with sketchy details on top players does not appear when it comes to the crunch games.

As you know I'm a relative newcomer to Enfield Town. As a result, I do not have the same sentimental attachment to the original players who played for us upon formation. I have a feeling that some of these players seem to be protected on 'Not the ETFC'. They remain free of criticism purely because of they were with us from day one. I'm sure the same culture exists at AFCW and I'm sure the same effect will happen at Telford, Hornchurch, the Manchester club etc. I personally feel that this is a negative culture as no player, as they say 'should be bigger than the club!'

I hope this answers your question Gazza - Sorry to keep you waiting!

not sure why you should get a slating for having a reasoned view of things.

I don't think any player should be protected by sentiment, it is a football club, and players, managers, directors come and go, who is there thru it all, yip the fans

If your refering to me DOY about the two bwood games.

1st game on tuesday night - i was ill and was sent home from work and was in no fit state to play. ( i have played whilst ill before for the town so if i could have i would have this time too.)

Second game

Wife was ill and i do have children to look after as she was unable.

If the person who comes in is not up to certin persons standards then thats there problem. ( i think ken was good enough to hold his own when needed)

My understanding is that ken did more than hold his own in those games, so if people are trying to blame him of myself for those loses then that it total cr*p! by the way how many goals did we score in those games!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

there you go the truth!!

Both Chopper and Ken were treated appallingly during the season. Ken was an able deputy. Just think back to the league cup game when he saved a pen and how well he played in the Wood games and at Barton. If you look around the forums at some of the comments from other players including keepers, they all cannot understand why Chopper was dropped. Sure, he may have made some mistakes but that is football. However, over the last five years he has been our most consistent player. Is we lose him then it will be a big loss to ETFC.

Chopper has come out and made his point. I wonder whether anyone from the management team will do likewise!

Mind you, he does have a very dodgy hair cut and an appalling taste in football kit!!

Chopper.Regarding the Wood away game. The rumour going around the fans at the time, was that the management team couldn't contact you after your initial phone call to say you would be absent.

Also, you know i will back you all the way ,ability wise .And i will always back you as our first choice keeper, you know that.BUT unless your wife was very ill and/or had no members of her family or your family who could step in and look after her and the the kids for a few hours, then you should have tried to make the game.In not doing so,it was construed in some quaters (rightly or wrongly) as lack of committment.

I know your family must come first, but if you really wanted to organise things, could you have found a way to be at the game.If it really was impossible be make the game, then please accept my apologies.I'm just honestly conveying the impression some people (rightly or wrongly) got about the situation.

Was there some sort of breakdown in relations with the management well before the Wood away game, that made you less desperate to find a way of coming to the game (under difficult circumstances)?

First Lovely stuff i could be contacted as i was at home still (more rubbish)

I have no family in the south as all my family are up north! The only other person who could have looked after the kids was the mother in law but she was away that weekend!

so people can think what they want but thats the truth!

I was as gutted as anyone missing both wood games!

I admit it Chopper, I was referring to your unavailability during those two games. As I mentioned in my message, some things are more important than football and your situation in both instances illustrates this very well. I am sure we would have at least drawn the two games if you had been available. I’m also pretty sure we would have won the title had you played.

The point I was making was more a point about fan sentimentality associated with players in the team. One good example of this was the way Martin Peat was slated as soon as he stepped into your boots. He had a poor start to his game. I know he didn’t quite look the part, as he was a big bloke. He made improvements and pulled off a couple of good saves in the 2nd half. He was clearly nowhere near as bad as people made out on here. Mark Cousin’s also came in for a lot of stick on here despite some great performances.

I am glad to see you back Chopper. I hope you’ll still be with us next season. Enjoy the summer and see you at the Presentation Evening if it ever happens!

DOY i agree Martin got a lot of stick but i don't think Mark did one bit to be honest.

to say we would have won the title if i had played in the wood games is a nice complement to me but a bit unfair to ken from what i heard he played well.

you to have a good summer.
