Slough's Budget

Must be absolutely massive.

We've got your 3rd choice keeper on loan, Adrian 'Squeaky' Blake, and he's apparently our highest paid player.

Now you can do all the jokes about our pitch/crowds/sand/whatever but the fact is that surely this puts Steve Browne's poor management into even sharper perspective. Slough must be the only team I know who loan players out to clubs' in higher divisions, not just to us I hasten to add.

Let's face it your squad for the last few season's has read like a who's who of non-league football and you can't even beat the likes of Tilbury!

Sort it Slough! Browne Out! Deaner Out!

Or looking at it a different way, it shows how poor Maidenhead are that they are borrowing players from lower divisions who will walk straight into their first team! <img src="/forums/images/icons/wink.gif" alt="" />

Personally I think Slough could hold their own comfortably in the Premier League next year but don't necessarily think they'll get there to prove it.

B&W, you're right, I'd probably cringe if I saw the budget and I have no idea what to compare it to. But I don't think it's as bad as it was a couple of seasons back as we now have a lot more young players in the squad.

I still think we're walking a tightrope but our objective is promotion and to achieve this, we MUST have a large squad with some players paid more than the average due to the experience they have. I think it's the same with other clubs like us, except sometimes we're suckers and pay way too much.

Chris, I haven't heard the rumoured figures but I do know that the club realised that, as most players are greedy, they'll see a bigger signing on fee as making them better off than giving them a much lower weekly basic. I understand that this is what we do as a one off fee doesn't hurt financially as much as shelling the cash out each week.

I have no idea at all at this level (Slough, Maidenhead or Rymans in general) what players earn. Obviously most if not all players have a main profession so what sort of money would an Adrian Blake earn compared to a youngster like Dom Jean, for example? I promise this is just purely from an interest perspective and I don't work for the Inland Revenue!
