I see the club are moaning about the number of people coming through the gate.

Well, I haven't the time or inclination to go into this subject properly now, but it's obvious. Drop the prices to the minimum £6.

You'll get a good 200 extra people on the gate. People I know/work with etc. ask me how much it costs to get into City, and when I tell them, they are astonished at how expensive it is.

And with 200 extra people in the ground at a lower cost, extra money will be made on programmes, the bar etc.

Unfortuantely, Zealster, if you did that you would upset the season ticket holders and would need to refund the difference to them, so you two pound reduction could end up costing the club money.

The only way to get significantly more people through the gate is to be successful in the FA Cup: look at Stevenage and Woking, their gates have probably doubled since beating whomever it was they beat.

Hopefully, when we go top on the 21st of next month, things will pick up a little, but we really need a bit more success next season in the Cup. We've made progress this year, now lets try to beat a league team or two and possibly draw Arsenal or Chelsea to Clarence Park.

A quick point.

£1,500 over budget per week. Looking for another (let's say) 100 people. So. 100 people = £1,500. We're getting 450 a game (let's say 300 paying(?)). So. £1,500 x 3 = £4,500. Give or take some for accuracy etc.

Is our budget £4,000 and over??

Be honest, no-one actually understands what I'm talking about, do they?

Using your argument and figures above and Zealsters reduction of £2:

450 * £2 = a loss of £900 (including a refund to season ticket holders)

To get back to the current income would need

150 people (900 / 6)

That makes a gate of 600 (450 + 150) just to hit what we currently earn.

Zealster claims we would get an extra 200, so that's 50 people more at £6 = a rise in income of £300.

At the current rate of £8 we only need another 38 people.

Basically, the answer is to win more games.

I'm sure no-one would complain if the price went down, Laz. £6 would clearly be more enticing that £7 but £7 is probably the lowest the club would be willing to go.

Suggesting that the price remains at £8, the simple idea would be to do more fundraising etc. For example.

Kids for a Quid if accompanied by an adult. (Guaranteed £8 from 1 kid and 1 adult through the gate.

Bring one kid, get another one in free if accompanied by a paying adult (Guaranteed £13 from 2 kids and 1 adult)

Just 2 relatively simple ideas.

Get kids in. Kids usually come with adults. Adults = money through a programme, food, drink, merchandise etc.

If the season ticket holders kick up a fuss give them a free programme or something.

LOL

just what i need!!! (still haven't got over the wonderfull snippet about a Ferrari)

basically the answer is when we have one of the so called 'big games" ie more punters

WIN the bloody thing in style ...

let 'em come let 'em come, as they say in certain parts of lahdahn

Kingsonian are doing kids get in free if accompanied by an adult. Presumably there is a limit to how many kids per adult, you don't want whole classrooms getting in free with one adult in tow.

Why not?? If those kids weren't going anyway, the worst you could do is make a bit of money out of food/merchandise etc. even if they've got in free.

When Posh play there next game the season can bring as many kids as they want! I think the kids prices should be raised back to 5 quid! i mean at Lincoln its only 4 quid and the standard of footie is better. Also we should have a kid 4 quid thing but advitise it about a month before! and parents dont have too come! You already know that i have gone wacky so dont rub it in!

Every Primary School in the district receives plenty of Kids go Free tickets for each game. They have to come with a full paying adult and the take up is improving steadily. Incidentally, The only reason we had 700 to 800 each game in the 'Garry Hill' season was that the figures may have been ever so slightly inflated! Controversial!
