So Enfield Town have won twice and Wivenhoe Town once this season in competitive meetings. Wivenhoe are a team in form, with a late surge in the season. Come on Enfield Town. Let's go and get our promotion place back.

Once again we finish with the best away record of any team in the league, and once again we fail to gain automatic promotion.Remember the ESL where we actually remained unbeaten away all season but still failed to go up because of our home record.

This really need to be sorted out now.Its gone on for too long. The management need to sit down and calculate WHY we struggle at home and then put tactics in place to change the situation. What better time to start than on Monday.

The only consilation is that Wivenhoe's away record is much worse than our home record.

Wivenhoe finished 19 points behind us,and have only won five away league games all season. Its time we put these teams to the sword at home, and play at full pace and commitment for the FULL 90 minutes, rather than in short spells,as we normally seem to do.I don't want to see the first half wasted on monday.

Can't really argue with that LS (and I won't even leap onto one of my usual grumbles about the idiocy of play-off systems!).

I would say that I would have thought that any player NOT playing with full pace and commitment would automatically make selection in one position for the management!

We require players for next season to either compete at Step 3 or gain promotion from Step 4. The next one or two games will decide which and will also clarify if we have the players or not, particlualry in the latter case. However I would sincerely hope that motivation will not be a problem!

Just a matter of winning two matches Markwe and then maybe the speculation can really begin as to what leagues for whom!

Wivenhoe gave us the first match at the beginning of the season as a welcome to the league when many of their team defected at short notice to Halstead Town but they regrouped and still made the playoffs. Wivenhoe Town are once again a reputable team under a good manager. If we play the footbal we know we can then we will win but any less will be punished.

It is variable tomorrow there will be lots of our own fans. The home fanbase is about 300+ but there will be a lot of curious hoppers tomorrow. Could be less because of the short notice or as many as 600 on the back of the recent local derby experience. Just cannot tell. No matter just get behind the lads and encourage them all you can. Sing, shout cheer and support town to victory.

Weather will play its part (and other bank holiday fixtures).

Why not? I think this is the first time in 40+ years of following REAL football in Enfield that I have had to bother with one of these farces. (Perhaps Jim could confirm this as I can't remember clearly what happened with EFC when they were relegated to the Ryman setup.)

I am guessing that the playoff concept was designed by a highly-paid consultant to the fairground football setup as a purely money-making exercise. I suppose that subsequently the administrators of the lower level leagues thought 'me too, me too', or was this something imposed from above by the dodos at Soho Square?

I believe the gate receipts are split 37.5% to each team, and 25% to the league. What will happen if the games are run at a loss? Would the league contribute an equivalent share?

So we only get 37.5% of our home gate receit???

As the teams playing at home in the play-off finished above the team they are playing. One of the rewards should be gate reciet money for the tie.

Wivenhoe play us in a one-off game, even though they finished a massive 19 points behind us.That should be reward enough for them.To give them 37.5% of gate money from Town fans pockets as well, seems a bit unfair.
