[color:"blue"]Clever psychology by KP - who wound up a lot of people with his 'it's hoped he'll be at Hartsdown on Saturday' line in the Gazzette, coupled with keeping everyone tight-lipped about the appointment. As I was walking around the ground today everyone was guessing who the next Manager would be - most were hoping it was Trotty but were fearful it wasn't. NICE ONE KEITH.

His words didnt fool me Peter though there were some niggling doubts, but the "one year contract" I think gave it away really. Also the "trying to get him here" bit also didnt sound right. As I said a smokescreen, playing with words, but it was fun still wondering if someone else WAS in the running. The other bit about the board ALL being in agreement(unanimously) was a clue I think also.Still, even then I agree even I wasnt 100% sure it was Trotty. Good fun & a good appointment.Lets hope he can use his ONE YEAR to reach the targets the club have aimed for.Its a lot to ask of him in just one season,to get promotion,to reach the FA Cup 1st round proper & have a good run in the FA Trophy but I just feel, though its his first full season in charge, that he can do well with some if not ALL of those targets.Promotion would do for me if it ends up as just one out of three. Its the target we were after with CK & its the main target now with Trotty.Am sure that alone would bring him a further contract.I think he can do well.

As for hoping that the new gaffer will be in attendance...I sincerely hope he is, as he will surely be on the teamsheet on the day anyway......................wont he?

Trotty is playing for us on the day. Just give him time to shower after the game & he will be with us in the clubhouse for the announcement. No bus rides,no taxis just a few steps over to the clubhouse.Oops have I given something away there!

[color:"blue"]The three 'targets' were another 'bit of fun' really, what a task for a Rookie Manager .. my hopes are that he can persuade Protheroe to stay, retain Mike Flanagan as his Assistant & get us into (or on the verge of) the playoffs ending with a 'positive' goal difference. Anything on top of that would be 'the icing on the top of the cake'.

For the first time in a long while I'm looking forward to the start of next season.

I have to admit I think the targets are very optimistic. Cup games are so unpredictable and it is harsh to judge a manager on a cup run. But I would be delighted with a play off place next season. Promotion is obviously the target but for me I think we will be definitely heading in the right direction with some nice results and a play off place. On today's performance with a few quality additions why not? I could tell that we were playing with confidence and the players were loving it out there. I can't wait for next season either.

I wouldnt say the "THREE TARGETS" mentioned by KP were a "bit of fun" Peter. They are REAL targets.Giving him just one year to reach those targets & bearing in mind his hunger for the job on a more permanent basis I can see why they have announced these three targets. No,I think they are genuine targets despite him being a "rookie manager". Well at least the promotion target is. Its going to get him to work very hard to achieve those targets. If we just get promotion & none of the other two I think the club will be more than pleased.I certainly will be!

Agreed though that any or both of the other two targets WILL be an added bonus.

Yes we also need quality players in the shape of Protheroe, but on speaking to him about next season I was told (by lee himself) that "things werent in his hands". I take that to mean that he has other options or he is holding out for a good deal, whether that be with us or another club.Or it could be down to his club Gravesend as to what they wish for him.He is after all still a Fleet player as far as I know despite his recent problems with them.

IF we can afford him we should try our hardest to sign him.But nothing should put our finances under strain again even for Lee. Lets hope the deal is there, the cash be available & that we can secure his services.

Well possibly Craig Edwards may have been apointed, but after seeing us to win 4-2 after being 2-0 may have swayed the boards decision.

Dont think Edwards would have been too happy if that were the case Alex,do you? More especially as he would have been at the ground already for the announcement or nigh on at the ground anyway.

I am sure we would have known Alex if he were. He would have been ranting & raving if he had been offered the post in the first place & then snubbed afterwards.I appreciate what you are trying to say but the deal was already done and thank goodness it was!!

Not all Directors would have known of him anyway or his record so a "unanimous" decison wouldnt have been forthcoming in his case surely.

What ever happens next season Trotties hero's have got to hit the ground running. I think the skies over the board room would soon darken and things would change sooner than later. After this seasons experience finishing second in anything will be unacceptable. After my experience last night picking up members of the family of the Rams managers family i for one will think the season a dead loss if those clowns are not dispatched by the gate in both games, hopefully in the last game of the season on there way out of the BOTTOM of this division.
