Next season

To get a successful side at this level you would need a wage bill, for a modest manager, of around £5k a week. This should enable you to get the cream of the playing staff for the foundation for your side.

40 week season * £5k = £200k

Match Officials - £150 a game? * 21 = £3,150

Match Travel - £2k as an estimate, probably a lot more than that

Match Income - 331 * £6 (mainly adults coming in) - £1,986 per home match

League Matches - 21 * £1,986 = £41,706

That still leaves a shortfall of £160k before ground rental agreements if we were pushing the boat out.

In our current circumstances where we can generate no revenue from the ground we share at, we're being very sensible on the players budget in an effort to secure football at this level whilst keeping the club afloat financially.

1) Martyn Deaner has said that he's scaling back his sponsorship. He's already ploughed in £2 million and got precisely nothing back.

2) Income from other sources would only total about £20,000 (advertising, raffle, golden goal) at a generous estimate.

3) Conference South teams have only noticed a slight rise in attendances. Just looking at Ryman Premier attendances (discounting AFC Wimbledon), there's only a drop-off of 20-30 people per game.

taking all this into account, we would need to average 600 people per game in order to get out of the Ryman Premier League.

Problem is, Martyn asked for this seasons ago for everyone to make that extra effort to bring in a person through the gate. Since then, our attendances have actually declined for a number of reasons - lack of publicity, lack of on field league success, lack of advertising - whilst there are things we can all do, a lot would need to come from the club at a time when they clearly feel they have better things to concentate on.

Which goes against what you said about play offs next season ! Easily swayed opinions.
