I Hate to say "I told you so" but "I told you so" !

Would take Jeff King right now . . for all our silly snipes at him - he loves the non league game and has deep pockets. He would no doubt see us as a better prospect than Canvey.

Or

Victor - inputting most of his football related cash to us, would see us progress nicely . .

Unrecognised Genius & FleetFanatic - please lets have a truce for now at least - the "I'm a better supporter than you " - "No, I'm a better supporter than you" argument is one that neither of you will win.

Lets face it - its just another demonstration of the effect that poor form has on us all - if we were running away with the league title, unbeaten all season, we'd all be singing from the same hymn sheet - the one that says "Brilliant, fantastic". Poor form, however often brings out the worst in people and can be very devisive.

For goodness sake, we all want the best for our club and we all agree that 2006 certainly hasnt proved to be that for Gravesend & Northfleet FC.

Amen.

Of course the guy cares about the club & my having supported it for longer doesn't make me a better supporter, any more than the amount I am lucky enough to be able to afford to pay into the trust makes me a better fan than someone else who can't but pays what they can.

It's all about mutual respect and that has certainly been lacking as the season has dribbled into a damp squib and the disappointment has hit us all. Then, I would say Liam is due respect too, however much people disagree with his decisions. It's possible to disagree vehemently without slagging someone off.

So, quite a good response to my post - thanks guys !

The strange thing is that so many people look upon criticism as being personal. I've never met Mr Daish in my life and I'm sure if I did, I'd find him to be a nice guy who really wants to be successful with the Fleet. Also, I'm sure the Board appointed him because they thought he would bring us success (God knows why however, given his previous record!)and in turn gave him the largest playing squad budget ever given to a Fleet Manager.

However, over one year on, full time football managed by Liam has proven to be a total failure. My view all along has been "why go full-time" unless you are capable and ready to get promoted".

If you just look around the stadium (a rather grand word to describe our decaying, ramshackle crap hole)and our final league position, do we really look to be in that position?

Let's be realistic, the Club is in a terrible mess and going backwards fast. The Board need to get back to basics before it's too late.

Appoint a guy on the up from a lower division or an experienced Conference Manager, go back to part time, recruit the best local part time players and consolidate before even dreaming of promotion and League football.

To get people through the gate you either need to be challenging for promotion or playing attractive football we have done neither this season and the gates have dropped in direct proportion.

So let's hope we Board in the summer have a good clear out managerial staff, expensive "non-playing" players and give us all some excitement to look forward to in August.

I was with you right up to the cricket bit, fortunately the world cup and a few beers should see us through nicely to the pre-season friendlies. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />
