WVN is not just a "ship" , he a battlecruiser!!! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

And long may he come on here, kicking the establishment in the ar*e of their complacency, giving us his unique, juxtaposed viewpoint on things Fleet.

Love him or loath them, both WVN and Riverview Red have been supporters for longer than nearly everyone else on this forum.

Maybe I'm mis-reading your point Gary, but I specifically said I couldn't possibly call WVN a ship in the night. I fully acknowledge the years he has spent following the club.

Anyway, just read Brian's statement. I wonder if he's frustrated that things haven't moved ahead financially as much as he would like & has decided to take the bull by the horns himself.

None of us enjoy watching the Fleet play badly but if you are a true supporter then you stick with the club through thick and thin.

I will definately be there today just in case the rumours about Skins, Jacko etc turn out to be true, I'll be buggered if they are going to play there last games for the Fleet without getting the thanks they deserve.

We haven't used the word victim ever - you have.
We are merely expressing our own opinion on how awful Daish's managerial ability is.

I and the people who don't slag people off are supporters too, we are not officials of the Club. We support the team, which does not necessarily mean we support the manager, any more than not slagging him off means we are up his b*m, as I've tried to point out before.

Unfortunately, Darren, I think you don't really love the Club in the way some of us do which is why you can walk away. I suspect you're one of these people for whom the team is an extension of their own ego, people who take it personally if the team lets THEM down, because their own ego is more important than what they feel about their team. Haven't gone to Barnet, after all - I've got a BBQ to go to instead now.
So I'll reply before I go.

I haven't left, as you put it.
I simply refuse to waste my cash on the crap Daish is producing.
There's a subtle difference.

I don't care, do I?

No, of course not - I waste time producing flyers - how many did YOU deliver, just out of curiosity?
I even printed extra ones off for others to deliver - time and expense was worth it, I felt.

I sponsored the goals for the season - did YOU?
I planned to forward a cheque to the trust for the amount owed - perhaps I shouldn't bother, seeing as I apparently don't care?

I have had posters up at railway stations that I also wasted time producing (very rarely I admit, due to company policies).

Behind the scenes, even now, I am dealing with our marketing department, in attempts to tie up a joint publicity drive for next season, with a view of taking it to the club. I spoke to Brian in the bar about this after a match a couple of months or so ago but the view was to wait until the franchise had been taken over by GoVia.
Whether this could also contain a degree of sponsorship too remains to be seen.
Hence myself being keen on the Ebbsfleet FC question.

But no I DON'T BLOODY WELL CARE, do I?

Fine, that answers the questions above.
If that's the consensus then I won't bother.

The self-appointed victim tag is applied quite rightly, imo, because of the way you & WVN have referred to people "attacking" you for expressing your views, when all they have done is disagree politely, or when you have posted something negative you have then referred to an expected "onslaught." Personally I feel I feel I am more entitled to feel aggrieved for being accused of wearing rose tinted spectacles.

I collected & delivered posters.

I pay into the Fleet Trust by direct debit to the tune of £300 per annum.

I sponsor goals & paid Jessica over £30 today.

I lobbied Chris Pond, Adam Holloway & every local & county councillor going over the Gills stadium issue.

I went today. You didn't. I went on Thursday. You didn't. But that's irrelevant. I'm not interested in who wins this argument. What I do know is that I will continue going to every game I can until the club ceases to exist, regardless of whether I approve of the manager or not.

As things stand, I'm apprehensive about next season but haven't given into despair, having read Brian's statement. I'm not interested in being proved right or wrong: the future of the club is more important to me than any argument on this forum.

Until we have a annoucement, who the new sponsor are, If we have one that is.All the speculation is pointless.

The thing that makes a difference is money plus a good manager.

Not all the I told you so's.

To be honest if I had predicted all this bad news and I had been proved to be right, then sorry I would not be gloating, in any way, shape, or form.

I would be sad that the club has plummeted to such depths.

I have supported G&NFC for approx 40 years. And contrary to what I have seen written on here is not the worst I have seen the club by far.

When fleet were a struggling southern leauge side.

Swanscombe end was a mud bank etc. Some of my memories are of dire days and nights,Struggling against relagation.Crap floodlights. But still got support from the faithful 500, who turned out for the club week after week.

Yes our team grinds out results week after week, of late not that many good ones.

Suppose we can have a sponsor, get into the football league then end up like Rushden & D'monds.

Wonder how bad there supporters must feel!!!!

Far worse of than us I would suspect.

Think we have to stop feeling sorry for ourseleves and look forward to what the future brings.Be it good or bad

Errr?

Where did I say you didn't care? I said that imo you don't love the Club as much as some others do and that this is illustrated by the impression I get that your own ego is more important to you than the future of the club. I don't give a sh*t whether I'm proved right or wrong on here or whether we have the manager I want or not as long as the team is progressing & the Club's long term financial future is in safe hands.

Read your own posts about going to watch West Ham & the assertion you were going to Barnet today & see why one would be justified in assuming you were walking away.

I reckon we have been playing "pants" for the last 3rd of the season.

I have been disheartened by the apparent lack of passion shown by the team, coupled by tactics I'm not happy to see (possibly due to the make up of the team due to injuries perhaps?)

I am certainly unhappy at the poor quality of the ground due to the lack of progress at The fleet End, which has resulted in a piss-poor atmosphere.

l am totally fed up at reading rants by people on this site who seem to have a grudge against the manager. Which is why I for one, hope he succeeds in building a team worthy of wearing the G&NFC shirt, if only to shove it up the backsides of WVN and CG (who in his defence, seems to be a little more thoughtful in his comments lately).

I'm fed up with people standing on the Terraces slagging of players who don't deserve to be criticised, especially by the "lame brains" who congregate around the old tea hut.

I haven't been able to get to the last few games because of work commitments................... and despite everything

I have missed it like Hell!

Just bare in mind it could be a lot worse. Imagine you were a Scarborough fan, a Birmingham fan, a WBA fan or even worse tonight, a Rushden fan.

We survived a long arduous season despite all the problems it brought.

Rose coloured spectacles?

No, I can see that we have problems.

But just remember where we have come from, and be happy that we are still punching above our weight when it comes to finance, facilities and support.

And cheer up WVN, theres all sorts of things you can moan about during the summer, like........

The water shortage....... Liams fault.

The Government...... Liams fault

The state of the National Health Service...... Liams fault.

Unrest on the streets...... prob Liams assistants fault.

The grass not growing well enough..... Liams fault.

Your Piles playing up..... Definitely Liams fault.

etc.

My vitriol against LD may have been curtailed, but my sentiment remains. I still believe he is the wrong man to take us onwards, and I , WVN, RR and RR have expanded on our reasons until it hurts. Perhaps a new Chairman at the helm will see that since Boxing Day a sequence of P22 W5 D5 L12 F18 A30 = 20 points @ a max of 66 is really a poor show.

See you Monday for some fun and to see a real Fleet team.

There have been far darker days. Don't you remember the goalkeeper/captain/player manager days of Eddie McAlpine or some of the Alf Ackerman reign? Or the various relegations including from the APL? Or near bankruptcy? Being a fan for 44 years surely you do? And yet you allegedly continued to support the Club. Through thick and plenty of thin too! We have played some dire football in the past. Worse than at present and at a much lower level. But despite those times if you really feel that way now WVN I would simply say bye bye. Except if you do chose to vote with your feet please do not continue to snipe from the sidelines as per " Mad " Harrison. It would be very tiresome.

Unrecognised Genius & FleetFanatic - please lets have a truce for now at least - the "I'm a better supporter than you " - "No, I'm a better supporter than you" argument is one that neither of you will win.

Lets face it - its just another demonstration of the effect that poor form has on us all - if we were running away with the league title, unbeaten all season, we'd all be singing from the same hymn sheet - the one that says "Brilliant, fantastic". Poor form, however often brings out the worst in people and can be very devicive.

For goodness sake, we all want the best for our club and we all agree that 2006 certainly hasnt proved to be that for Gravesend & Northfleet FC.

Now, I think we're back to where we were at the end of last season - almost certainly Daish will still be here for the start of next season at least, and several people will predict total doom and gloom as they did this time last year. "We'll be relegated by Christmas" will no doubt be a favourite phrase.

Yes - something needs to be done to pull us round from the slide in the second half of the season, but as others have said, it has been far worse at various times over the last 40 years, and no doubt there will be times in the future when we look back and think " Why on earth were we moaning about that"? (I hope that last bit doesnt come to pass & expect someone to ask "How could it possibly be worse?").

I have to agree wth most of the sentiments expressed on here recently, most of it is borne out of sheer frustration.

The most worrying aspect as far as I can see,is the fact that with all the possible exciting developments going on,(a new stadium,a chance to increase our fanbase with new housing being built in the area, Fleet leisure etc.)we unfortunately seem to be going backwards on the field, the very product that needs to be at the forefront of our scheme of things, and if that's not bringing in the punters and creating interest,we may as well pack up.

If Daish is not up to at least creating a team playing entertaining football, then he should go,this must be our no.1 priority, the rest will follow.

If we start to play well and get good results we get more noticed, and that may well help encourage sponsors to come forward, obvious really, let's hope we can look on this season as a minor blip in our progress.

Don't know who the new chairman will be but unless it is someone not on the current board and someone with very deep pockets who is willing to give his money away with no prospect of getting it back (Jeff King anyone?) I am not expecting too many changes.
