I thought Bradley Johnson run Slats closely. Playing way beyond his 18 years.
Clearly a classy prospect, and is scoring goals as well.

Bradley has proven his ability over the last month & settled nicely into a scoring groove, yet a few weeks ago he was one of the players quoted by some self-appointed pundits as not being up to the task. I also felt Danny Glozier was impressive last night, showing confidence & a strong physical presence, but 2 or 3 weeks ago I personally would not have included him in my "to keep" list.

Illustrates how judging young players quickly can be tricky. Some flatter to deceive, showing what appears to be excellent promise at first, never to show this again, whilst others take time to settle & then when the confidence comes you realize what an asset they are.

If the rumours are true, all the departures happen & we end up with a squad of full time youngsters, we could avoid gloomy pessimism if they were all of the calibre of Bradley, Danny & the two Smiths, but some of them won't be & others will take the best part of a season to show that they are - by which time .....

As I said before, we'd better hope the rumours are no more than hot air.

Hmmmm, stronger squad than I realized. I thought a lot of the players were youths as I didnt recognise them. Feel even more depressed now

But now I know who was who, Johnson and Slatter both had strong performances I thought. Played some exciting counter attacking football in the 2nd half, the likes of Moore having too much pace for their defence. But we were knackered when they got that equaliser. That killed it. A fitting end to what's been the least enjoyable season I've had in the 5 years I've supported the Fleet.

I just feel flat. There has been so little to cheer this season, especially since Christmas. 10 league goals at home in 2006 tells it's own story.

I'll be there tommorrow, God knows why, we will have a very inexperienced team playing. The regulars will be knackered, the part timers will probably not be too bothered, as it looks like they will be released.

I used to look forward to a game on Saturdays, the build up to 3 pm, the atmosphere at the Northfleet end, the expectancy of a great attacking game and a 1500 crowd cheering and chanting from 2:40.

It will be like a morgue tommorrow, I would be surprised if we get 700

absolutely nothing to play for, except pride, and there seems there is no point in even playing for that.

I agree re Danny Glozier - did very well last night, particularly in his link up play going forward alongside Slatts.

As I said elsewhere, Brad took his goal really well. If only Slatts had been able to finish his chance in the last minute in the same manner, we'd have won 3-2 rather than losing by that score. Cant gripe too much though given Slatts outstanding goal which would have even been a Goal of the Season contender at Premiership level, and his overall showing of drive & enthusiasm.

I have to say I find it rather perverse that supporters need to see names and squad numbers on the back of shirts to be able to recognize their own club's first-team players.

Oh yeah and Gravesend have been ever so successful in the conference, haven't they?

If you'd offered me four seasons in the Conference with finishes of 17th, 11th, 14th and 13th-17th (depending on tomorrow's matches) when we got promoted, I'd have gladly accepted.

Your point about the unlikelihood of us making the Football League is a valid one, though. But you must admit, as Hirsty implies, that your username is now somewhat factually incorrect?

It's interesting to note Daish's comments in last night's programme about this. He described his likely transfer targets for this summer as 'the right players that can be full-time for us but maybe not demanding the wages that other full-time clubs are playing. That goes down to getting young hungry players that their desire is to be full-time (sic) and that's the blueprint really.'

One has to wonder why, if we can only afford to sign cheap and young full-timers, thus stripping the side of much-needed Conference experience, why we bothered to go full-time in the first place. Although, admittedly, we all know the real reason: keeping up with the Joneses.

JimGNFC summed it up perfectly on here the other week: 'If we can't afford to keep up with the Joneses, we shouldn't even try'.

It was in response to the claim I only followed the Fleet when the going was good.

Somehow I can't imagine that you would have been visiting Upton Park 18 months ago either when the same manager was being attacked by the fans when it looked as if they would fail to make the play offs again. Football fans can be very fickle. Ours too. I also moan from time to time but have stuck with the Club. I admire your honesty in going public and acknowledge your support for the Club in the past, but at the moment I can't help thinking that Fleet Fickle is probably a better choice for your acronym. I'm sorry if you think that it is harsh. Sadly, it can also apply to other users of this forum too.

Indeed I'm fickle then. Whatever.

Anyway, moving on, I've tracked the attendance down to 1,041 for the Bromely match.

Anybody run me by the card count for the match, including Liam's dismissal?

Without it, the prediction league calculations have ground to a halt.

Oh no, Liams sending off counts in the prediction league!......How much does it cost to join the anti-Liam brigade?
