It seems from their league table that Ilford are down already unless Aveley self destruct.

They will be joined in step 5 by the next team with the worst record in all 4 step four leagues.

As you will all, no doubt, wonder why I have not responded to all this.... it is due to the fact that it is all total conjecture and the opinion of one person though that opinion seems to have caused a mighty stir in the shires. Having said all that I would be delighted at such a conclusion to the years of worry but will have to wait, along with everyone else to hear what the real story will be ... and that will come only from the F A folks !

Well if you get bored with Southern East next season Nett you can come back and rejoin the league with the best forum in non league football.

As LgeChairman states, this is just pure speculation. another's site, as useful as it is, has already had a snub from Dennis Strudwick, Southern League secretary.

 

What Mr Strudwick said was actually correct, but some posters took exception!

 

Anyway, the ESL will lose three clubs in the summer, taking it down to 13 clubs. Clapton will join from the disbanding Isthmian Two and Ilford could be relegated from Southern One East, making 15 clubs. The FA are unlikely to want to do any major changes this year, when there will be a restructure of Steps Five to Seven in a years time. Bearing that in mind, Hertford Town could be placed in the ESL for one season, giving 16 clubs. Anyone coming up from the the Essex Olympian League, White Notley, LgeChairman?

 

On the long term picture, we can only speculate. The FA is committed to reducing the number of leagues at Step Five from 15 to 12. The Isthmian Two goes this summer, we'll tomorrow actually!

 

I think that the Essex Senior and Spartan South Midlands will possibly be joined (call it Athenian League as both leagues may object to using each others present title).

 

I think there could be a Premier Division (22 clubs) and Divisions One East and One West (20 each). Next season would be the qualifying season for the Premier Division. Additional clubs would come in as ex IL2 clubs, current SSML clubs at Premier and Div One along with some southerly United Counties clubs, possibly four of them.

 

This is just my opinion, and the FA could chose to do something really stupid and merge the Essex Senior and Kent Leagues, forgetting the Dartford Tunnel/Bridge equation!!

 

I would like to know LgeChairmans thoughts on the matter!?

not so sure I agree with that....its easier to get across the river than it is to travel north of the M25...personally I hope that TK is right...
