I've got that album, think it's called 'Hope is Important'. EFMTFTV, I bought my second Pixies album in a row yesterday, I've gone Pixies mad. First of all I got Surfer Rosa which was excellent and yesterday I got Doolittle which is also good but I prefer the previous mentioned album. Anyone know where I can get some cool Pixies T-shirts/Hoodies?

Anyone heard of Action Spectacular yet??

Idlewild's 100 Broken Windows (absolutely superb) is their 2nd album, is that correct?

Audioslave's debút album has been released in the US. Does anyone know if it's out in the UK?

The Coral's Dreaming of You and The Strokes' Last Nite...2 quality intros or 2 quality intros?

Coz I want to grow...grow up to be...be a Debaser...

I have to say that it's great to see the Pixies still proving popular with the kids. A couple of points:

(1) Chubbhead, the version of Surfer Rosa you have is, indeed, a compilation of that LP with the first mini-LP released by the Pixies on 4AD called 'Come On Pilgrim'. Although both Surfer Rosa and its follow-up, Doolittle, are great, 'Come on Pilgrim' is awesome and when released just before Xmas in '87 it came right out of the blue, I can tell you. It starts with the track 'Caribou' if I recall correctly. 'Ed is Dead' and 'Isla de Encanta' still send shivers up the proverbial spine. 'Brick is Red' is the last track on Surfer Rosa. A mini-LP called The Purple Tapes has just been released containing tracks from the original Pixies demo that didn't make it onto Come On Pilgrim. It's v short (19 mins) and sells as a full price CD so is not great value - v good though.

(2) The spoken intro on Surfer Rosa 'Is he into field hockey players' is classic.

(3) The remaining Pixies LPs are something of a disappointment, though not too bad (Bossanova and Trompe Le Monde).

(4) After the split, Kim Deal formed the Breeders with her sister - they're still going and have released a couple of LPs - only one track, 'Cannonball' warrants repeated listening.

(5) Frank Black's post-Pixies LPs are vastly underrated in my opinion. There are loads of them - latest incarnation is Frank Black and the Catholics - and by far the best is 'Teenager of the Year'. This got slated on release, but is a quality 2 x LP which could be picked up for 2p on eBay, I guess.

I have been told it is released, and can be picked up in HMV for £13.99 or as part of the 2 for £22 deal. I have heard, however, that it's cr@p.

Yeah, I saw The Breeders at Reading too, had previously only heard Cannonball but I was pleasently surprised. Anyone heard that new Audiobullies song? It's really cool and when I hear it I think of this board and the EFM-related stories posted on here. It's all about going out and being a bad boy!
