Keith Piper is doing the talking for Margate FC. Why not him? Hes done it before and he knows how to run a business.

I recommend Keith Piper. It'd be a good business decision.

Wasnt KP declared bankrupt? Could he legally be allowed to be Chairman of the club?

I think after 3 years you can say we say wipe the slate clean.although i have got nothing against KP,if it was not for him we would not have a club, but,I do feel we need sombody that will invest in the club,or to put it another way is there sombody out there with a couple of million they can spare.

Just to clear up a couple of points: there is no legal requirement for a limited company to have a 'chairman', just one or more directors and a company secretary. Most companies will have a managing director who takes day to day control. The chairman is a courtesy title often used to signify the majority shareholder.

I think the first poster on this thread may have been asking for a spokesperson to communicate with the fans. KP seems to be doing that very well, so I don't think we should argue on that score.

The point about offering shares to the public is well made. You only have to look as far as Gillingham to see how that can benefit a football club. And only as far as Mr Scally's mansion at Hever to see how it can benefit the previous owner. However a public limited company whose shares can be freely traded will always be vulnerable to a hostile takeover (eg. Man Utd).

Ownership of shares in a plc entitles you to receive an annual dividend (if the directors decide to pay one), and to submit and vote on resolutions at the annual general meeting. Your vote is only as powerful as your shareholding though.

Mr Piper was disqualified as a company director due to his bankruptcy. Disqualification could last as long as 15 years, to be decided by the courts. However it appears Mr Piper has since been reinstated as a director.
