just a thought but has no one ever thought of offering part of the club to the fans .This could be done by allowing say 25% of the club owned by surporters the other 75% owned by KP and anyone else involved .This could give the fans a better view of how the club is run and also by having an elected fan on the board to give over the view of the surporters and for us to here 1st hand what is actually going on at any time. Im no business man but all you would have to do is find out what was on offer as in a percentage of the club and sell so much of it as a share to a surporter i think...........................................?

One one hand it would generate money which is a good thing but on balance against the in fighting it could cause with one member of the supporters on the board how would this be decided? And would supporters be buying shares off each other to compete for this place on the board? Then presumably if the supporter was on the board they would want their opinions taken seriously in a sensitive business environment. But if they weren't taken seriously could there be problems?

i wonder how much a quarter of the club would be and you would have to find out roughly how many people would be interested in the scheme, so you knew sort of roughly how much you would have to pay to become a bit member of a great football club . by the way i just thought of the idea somebody with the business sense would have to take it on but am glad you all think its a good idea Could work if thought out properly ( could really benifit the club )with a bit if spending money for players, there own coach for travel to games with margate football club down the side very pro look . anyway up the gate........

afc wimbledon ,afc Hornchurch , telford to name but a few are all or part owned by the fans and they are all doing very well as a football club because they all thought it out carefully and professionally and it worked 4 them , why can`t it work for us , don`t seem some people have the faith in who is already involved with the football club or who would be the board member for the fans . if the surporters were to throw there money at the club would they chuck it back .I don`t think so , as long as its done correctly , if you are not interested in the idea then don`t get involved with it simple as that, just cheer them on each week like many others will do, there will be more people that are not involved than are though its as easy as pie .

Would people want to change the name as weell to Margate Co-operative Footbal Club.

I hate to say it but you want to run the club then put your money where your mouth is and cough up each week. There is no place for fans directorships.

By all means have a share issue and buy them and attend the annual shareholders meetings and vote for the directors in a democratic way.

As Gate Watcher says, it would lead to a split between the fans and the Board. If a group of people feel the need to build up a financial portion of the club, its clear they cant support the Board which acts on its behalf...

Nonsense!

We have over two hundred shareholders at Gravesend and whilst we may not agree with everything the board does the fact that we want to be part of the club does not mean that we can't support the board,

On the contrary the wider shareholding gives the Director's a sounding board and a forum for ideas via shareholder meetings.

All clubs should have as wider share ownership as possible, it's the only way in the long run run that you can help to ensure that the club has a future.

thankyou David, any idea put on this forum seems to go way off scale with some people , you have just told myself and a few other interested people it can actually work. All i was trying to say is there a way the club can make money and how can the supporters get more involved with the club they love to watch, thats it . I said i was no business man and someone else would have to take on the legal meaning of it all but its just an idea thats it lads ,and why would you want to change the name of the club , come on lads chill out everyone keeps saying look to the FUTURE so look ,,, up the gate. Thanks again David.
