BARWELL 4 vs WILLENHALL TOWN 3

Injury hit Willenhall were dealt another shattering blow when the MFA's top scorer Gary Hay was sidelined with a hamstring injury. With several regular players missing through injury the Reds suffered their first league defeat of the season in a 7 goal thriller.

Things started off well for the visitors when the other half of their strike force Bullimore put them ahead on 23 minutes. A Grosvenor cross was flicked on by Quilt, and Bullimore headed home to give the Reds a deserved lead.

On 33 minutes a Pearce cross was met by Bullimore and his looping header gave the keeper no chance.

With the Reds looking in control Barwell were allowed back into the game. On 37 minutes Thornhill's hard, low drive from 25 yards went just inside the post leaving keeper Vaughan with no chance.

Barwell were level before half time when Lucas rounded the keeper on 40 minutes after being put through by Puttnam, who appeared to be in an offside position.

Bullimore was denied his hat trick when the ref ruled out what looked liked a perfectly good goal much to the annoyance of the visitors.

Despite an onslaught by Willenhall it was Barwell who forged ahead on 67 minutes, Dave Lucas was put through by a defence splitting Scott Clamp pass and he beat the static Willenhall defence to put the ball in the net.

A loose ball in the area was not cleared on 82 minutes and it fell to Tanner who put his shot away to give Barwell a surprise 4-2 lead.

With injury time in progress and Willenhall ruing several missed opportunities, Bullimore tapped home his hat tricked following a 90th minute goal mouth scramble.

Willenhall visit Dr Martens side Racing Club Warwick on Tuesday 5th November in a Birmingham Senior Cup match.

Saturday 9th they entertain Arnold Town in a FA Vase round 2 game. <img src="/forums/images/icons/frown.gif" alt="" />
