Hampton & Richmond - maldon Town 1-2!

Recommended Posts

Oi, Balmoral, at least our (Braintree & Billericay) seasons have still got something left.

As has been spotted by one or two, Braintree are the Champions, Billericay will go up via the play-offs and the big City [sic] club? ...

Well, left to contemplate another season in local football.

Agree about Dean Parrott. Nice bloke and great to hear about him cracking in another from 35 yards!

Steady on IW - no need to get the hump.

Well done to the both of you, but OUR season hasn't finished JUST yet. Fisher next week - if we win, Ricay probably start with Swifts in the playoffs (provided they do the business against Hampton that is). If Fisher win, they'll start with them - who would you prefer for the first game Ricay?

Think jumping the gun a bit there BC

Still have a tough game to come against Hampton, two results work for them, only one for us.

Apparantly should we get past the first hurdle our next game would be on the Bank Holiday Monday.

If we were to beat Hampton (odds against) I would prefer to play Heybridge as it's a lot easier for us to get to.

Well, well, well who would have thought that. It seems that since I've been posting on this board the past month or so Fisher and Billericay's fate seems continuosly intertwined.

I think SOME of the Ricay fans are getting a little over excited dreaming of Playoff finals at Kingsmeadow, behave!

From my perspective all Hampton and Ricay have accomplished is bringing their final forward a week early. The only winner out of this is Fisher or Heybridge.

While the two teams on Saturday are running each other into the ground, 100% committment, tension, excitement etc, etc a mere 46 hours after this contest the heroic victors will find themselves facing up against a relatively fresh Fish/Swift both on top form. Whether Ricays young and relatively inexperienced side can handle that is the question.

Thats the leagues fault, the scheduling has been poor but hopefully it will work to Fisher's advantage.

As for us we barely broke sweat at Walton, it was 1-0 but should have been five. We have zero injuries and suspensions and the team look focused and ready for the challenge.

All our streetwise strikers are coming into form, we're beginning to play well at home again so I have great faith, enjoy your day on Saturday...then we'll see!

That's what you call a WAR CRY!!! ;-)

I would read into that Joe as a little nervousness creeping in! Nah, to be honest if someone had said 5-6 games ago we would be one game away from (possibly) reaching a playoff spot i would have bitten their hand off!

(Edited my comment on my reason for disliking Hampton, it was a little inflammatory)

I concede I am nervous and excited Keith, as is everyone involved in the playoff's.

Right I'm out of the country for the next six days but back just in time for Monday...hope to find my Ricay friends in the Champion Hill bar...

Its fantastic that we have something to play for on the last day of the season, even more so that its nice and clean cut, win and were in, draw or lose and were out. If we do get in to the play offs it will be an unexpected bonus, so lets just enjoy Saturday and give Matt and the boys a rousing reception.

Good call Jim.

Whatever the outcome, the lads will have given their all, they have shown great character during the last few months, and for that alone they deserve our support and congratulations.

Well done to all our Essex colleagues who did us proud at the weekend.

Assuming we get past Hampden (and we have to play well) I have mixed feelings as to whether we would prefer Heybridge or Fisher at first stage.I am sure our lads would love a chance to wipe out the cup memories against Fisher.

Whatever happens Matt Jones and his team have done a fantastic job - not many people would have thought after the turmoil of January that we would have got to 2 cup finals and had a shot at the Conference South still.

And a special thanks to Steve Kent who has put a lot of faith (and money) into the set up and deserves some success for the season.

January 2nd.. Chelmsford station... Mine keiths, and many others conversation...Under justin our hightest possibly finish would have been 9th/10th.

MJ has done miracles in the 2nd half of the season, and with a bit of luck coming our way our fate is now in our own hands.

if we do win....

what the travel arrangements be to fish?

can ryan arrange a coach that quickly, or are we all going to be going on the train in a rather large, loud and lary group??/

Travel will be very tricky on a Bank Holiday. The train from London Bridge is not in service to the East Dulwich/Beckenham Junction line on Sundays or Bank Holidays. Your best bet is to get to Denmark Hill from Victoria.

Don't worry its not much fun for me either, a Taxi job is the only way for me on BH..;-(

Why would we worry about you Joe?

Anyway, take the day off, there’s more important things for a fish fan on Monday than a part time job.

How much to Hampton guv?

I think the management and players have done fantastically to get us to this stage - don't think anybody would have given us a chance at Christmas so well done all.

Whatever happens resultswise, I think everybody should make sure they enjoy the last game of the season - we've got a young, fairly inexperienced team, two fit strikers, a couple of other injury problems so if we beat Hampton it'll be against the odds... and to get through the play-offs would be real Roy of the Rovers stuff!

Tom, don't worry about transport - if nothing else I'm sure there will be plenty of us with space in our cars willing to drive to make sure that everybody gets there...
