Yes, you are right. The letter from Malcolm Mitchell, printed as the lead letter in today's NLP, is virtually identical to the letter published from him in the current edition of the Reporter. The points made are perfectly reasonable and would probably be echoed by most Fleet fans. So, what prevented the story giving the background to this sorry affair from appearing in the NLP? The intervention of one of the participant's M'learned friends I wonder? We are still, several weeks on, no nearer learning the "truth" of what actually happened.

He doubts that the information given would have amounted to anything different than that on offer from any fan or observer of the Club.

 

Also that as we are not a rich club and shouldn't waste it on tribunal etc costs.

 

That Protheroe was a good player simply no longer fitting in to the Manager's plans.

 

That what might have been said is no different from what has been going on for years and that this will continue particularly with expanding means of communication.

 

That real gross misconduct would be a player, manager or official betting against their team.

 

And that is about it really. Nothing particularly controversial.
