A surreal day.

 

A game of few chances, but some good football played by both sides. For most of the game, Exeter had a bit more of a cutting edge in the last third where Potter had to make a couple of good saves , with one “spectacular” in the second half.

Exeter scored with 5 minutes to go, but either they sat back or it signalled an onslaught by our boys. Boylan poached the equaliser in the last minute and we looked like getting the winner into injury time. Shame the whistle went in the end.

 

My MoM went to Conroy who was starting to look quite commanding at RB, with Chenners sweeping up any balls that did get through

 

Quite sad walking away from the ground at the end to the sound of you’ll never walk alone.

We needed more of a fan base and a Castle Point/Basidon connection might have worked. A stadium may have worked slightly away from the Island, say at Sadler’s Farm with a name like Canvey & Basildon Utd perhaps, but we’ll never know.

Conroy has really impressed me in the last couple of games. He has been given his chance and taken it with both hands.

 

Shame Boylan didn't take that free kick in the last minute instead of Dwaine Clarke's feeble effort!!!

 

Thought the Exeter fans were dreadfully quiet.
