Sponsored Walk.....IT'S TOMORROW!!

The weather forecast looks ok and should be perfect walking weather, i.e. not too hot but bright with little chance of rain. That said, the forecast could be wildly inacccurate so prepare for any eventuality where the weather is concerned.

 

For those taking part, please be at Wexham Park no later than 8.45 A.M. so we can get the necessary pictures. Both parties (road route and canal route) will be leaving at 9.00 A.M. SHARP whether everyone is there or not so don't be late!

are both routes still roughly the same length?

Ian, whats the total distance of the canal route compaired to the road route?

[Ian]

Tom - I haven't spoken to John Tebbit so have no idea how long the canal route is. The fact that they are planning to leave at the same time suggests it must be achievable within the time allowed.

 

The road route is 12.6 miles and even last year to Worthing we managed to average 3mph so 4 hours should be easily achieved for most people. The biggest problem we'll have is stopping to cross roads all the time.

 

People are quite free to take whichever route they want.

Unfortunately we will be one walker down as Martin is suffering from a virus. I spoke to him a few minutes ago and really does not sound well at all.

Several of our fans took part in a 34 mile walk from Canvey to Dagenham last Monday leaving at 5:00am and at very short notice all to raise money for our soon to be formed Supporters Trust.

34 miles in one day? Ouch, we did 27 on day one to Worthing last year and that hurt enough.

Still remember the Berko walk which turned out to be about 27 miles in the end I think - and all uphill!
