The plot thickens...

Recommended Posts

I don't know about straws, WP, but your Moderators are in a state of panic. Two threads on your message board relating to the FA enquiries into the eligibility of Solomon Taiwo first had postings changed, then PMs flew in all directions and now, remarkably, the threads have been deleted.

I'm sure that there's no reason to be concerned. You might suggest to the Moderators that they should calm down. It's only a game of football.

Four points wasn't it? When Taiwo played for the Muff. Just the four?

Hmmnnn.

'happy hacking'

Yeah, I noticed a theme running through a number of posts on the Weymouth and ConfSouth forums. Rather than over-enthusiasm less than five minutes into a relatively big game, City are the most disgusting team ever to play in this league, and the RSPCC have been informed.

According to The Muff Chairman, GHA, t'lad was inelligible because there was agreement in writing between Weymouth and Havant that the player would not be selected for the forthcoming match between the two clubs. Havant have, of course, appealled against the decision and I doin't know their side of the story.

Technically very different from a situation where a club fields a player who hasn't been 'cleared' internationally, as might be the case with t'lad currently at Windsor and t'other one at Altrincham. 18 points deducted. That's some punishment.

Yours is an interesting summary, WP.

The words 'Gentleman's Agreement were bandied about before the Hearing and most people asssumed that meant a verbal agreement [which can be legally binding as was pointed out by some at the time].

However, Martyn Harrison issued a statement following the decision and stated categorically that the 'agreement' was in writing.

Is he likely to be issuing a statement concerning Solomon Taiwo do you think? You might suggest that he doesn't put it on your message board, mind.

Yes, it can.

A Gentlemen's agreement is an informal agreement between two parties. It may be written or verbal. The essence of a gentleman's agreement is that it relies upon the honour of the parties for its fulfilment, rather than being in any way enforceable. It is, therefore, the opposite of a legal agreement or contract, which can be enforced if necessary.

The last two sentences make for interesting reading. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Phew!! Thank goodness for that. Panic over at the Muff!!

Here is a Statemant issued by Martyn Harrison, the majority shareholder at Weymouth FC:

"Unfortunately we have been caught in the middle of other club's errors.

International clearance was the responsibility of Maidenhead at which he played 1st team football. This has just come to light and it is something which should have been dealt with by Maidenhead, not Weymouth or Windsor and Eton.

We are still not sure if Maidenhead did or did not get clearence, and it is being investigated by the FA and as soon as any decision has been made I will let you know."
