The plot thickens...

Recommended Posts

Lewes have had the planning permission turned down on their new stand. Doubt they would have built it by May 1st anyway... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

Altrincham have been deducted 18 (yes, eighteen) points for playing an ilegally registered played so are now bottom of the Conference. If they go down, and Canvey quit, it is likely that only one will go down from our League, though there is still the question mark over Cambridge City's future.

Havant & Waterlooville have launched an appeal against their 3 point deduction for playing Tony Taggart against Weymouth, wonder if they'll have second thoughts after hearing about Altrincham's fate?

Oh, and last but not least, John Goodwin has resigned as Chairman of Bishop's Stortford; something to do with the council stopping his little park and fly scam I think.

According to a post on the ConfSouth board, this lad what played for Altrincham prompting the 18 point deduction as he does not have 'International clearance' [allegedly], also played for Weymouth earlier in the season [allegedly].

I have very fond feelings for The Dripping Pan - the nicest ground that we have visited this season in my opinion - although I don't know anything about the folk at Lewes.

I fear that the supporters at Cambridge are wasting their time and resources trying to retain Conference South status for next season, but they may have bought themselves some time, perhaps.

I hardly know the man but I don't think that John Goodwin is my cup of Earl Grey but I do wish that Essex club well for Saturday!

According to someone on the Muff message board, Altrincham were deducted 18 points as t'lad played six games for 'em and they won them all. [Perhaps he is Roy of the Rovers?] That same person says that the Muff earned 4 points when he played two games for the clarets. He also played for Maidenhead, apparently but, presumably, hadn't reached his peak at that time.

I haven't seen any reference anywhere else to possible problems over this one.

Wouldn't that just be ironic if... No. Don't even go there.

Hmm! I hope the guy who used to drive the red tractor isn't following this thread.

Wasn't it alledged that certain people who are now driving red tractors at Weymouth that were involved in our ejection frm the FA Cup a few years ago?

I may be guilty of causing a little confusion here, so I'll try to clarify the thing.

T'lad at Altrincham is James Robinson who, it is alleged, didn't have 'international clearnace' to play in the U.K. The 18 points are the number of points that Alty won during his 13 matches wearing whatever coloured shirt Altrincham play in.

Robinson did not play for the Muff or Maidenhead.

However, parallels are being drawn on the ConfSouth and Muff boards with one Solomon Timao, who is currently on the books of Windsor but he hasn't played for the past few weeks. It is suggested that he, too, doesn't have 'international clearance' to play in the U.K. Before joining Windsor, t'lad played at Maidenhead and Weymouth, and, in his two outings for the clarets, they collected four points.

As far as red tractors are concerned, Laz, I suspect that you are referring to the Chief Exec. at the Muff - Gary Calder - who was Chief Exec. at Hornchurch last season at the time of our F.A. Cup victory at Heybridge when, Jamie Southon, then on loan at the Fortress from Hornchurch, played in the yeller 'n' blue. We were thrown out of the competition as we hadn't obtained written authority in a form acceptable to the F.A. that t'lad could play for us, allegedly. Heybridge went on to lose to Yeading who then went on to play someone else and lost in a replay.

The detail of the events allegedly leading up to the match against the Swifts and its immediate aftermath are probably best left to the dustbin of history, Laz.

The player in question is Soloman Taiwo (sorry to be pedantic). Given Mr Calder's involvement in the Heybridge cup fiasco do we know if the man who used to drive the red tractor is asking the Conference to look into the said Mr Taiwo's eligibility?

Would be seriously funny if that cost Weymouth a place in the Conference!!!

I don't like Weymouth's attitude. They seem to think because they get big crowds that they have a divine right to be in the Conference.

Unlike Canvey who think they have a divine right to drop out of it!

No point in carrying on at a level you can't afford to finance. That will get you nowhere and even further in debt.

Mr Harrison is paying off their debts by the sounds of it, £2 million that is owed to his hotel group.

When the Saints were kicked out of the cup against Hornchurch, they went on to play Yeading. That's the same Yeading who went on to play Newcastle Utd at QPR in the 3rd round... Should have been the Saints getting that pay day....

I don't think we'd have beaten Yeading, not with Castle in charge. We definately wouldn't have beaten Bognor!

Very possibly true - you could never tell with Castle.. He played some of the worst football seen & still managed to win the biggest game at Bedford.

Yeading were poor that season, poorer than Heybridge (sorry, i put hornchurch earlier) who had been beaten 2-0 that season.

Still, now it's all about 3 points at Havant tomorrow.
