Sorry Sonny, points have been made both sides and out of respect to all the great Canvey lads who post here, this is my last word on the matter as I really cannot be bothered and have no further interest in as you put it "banterising" with you any further. More important things to do and discuss at the moment than having to deal with silly schoolboys trying to score points on our forum so that is that.

OK. A serious point. Having trawled through both threads relating to Kevin Ryes comments I think one important point does come out. Whilst he is obviously knowledgeable and experienced, he also has an idealogy which he is keen to promote. Somone (Hendonboy?) labelled it "left wing" as opposed the "right wing" ideology of the traditional limited company set-up.

 

Now, it may be that Canvey Supporters Trust can learn a lot from him. His point about not "throwing money into a black hole" makes good sense; who ever heard of the customers of a private enterprise chipping in to keep the Chairman in Cigars? (apart from Freddie Laker).

 

However, it is perfectly feasible to "use him & abuse him" without necessarily adopting his idealogical model. If you look beyond football there aren't that many examples of succesful co-operatives.

 

You'll be operating in a competitive market with "products" on offer from Southend, Grays, Chelmsford etc.. all nibbling away at your potential income. It may be that you need some entrepreneurial (excuse spelling) flare at the helm rather than a group of well meaning, dedicated but possibly inexperianced supporters.
