You can't make that sort of jump straight away is what I'm saying. Give him a couple of years at Brentford (with sell-on clause ideally), let him get accustomed to the pro game then let him go on. We are not in a position to be holding higher league clubs to ransom

That's the problem with some people they cannot accept that fact that some people know more than they do, people you don't & things you don't. Get personal by all means if it helps you through rehab. I've mentioned the oxford connection so read & digest or carry on with the happy pills.

Agree with Liam, and would imagine Brentford would be the most likely home for McCleary..

Brentford would be a much better bet, particularly for a youngster like Gareth who has time on is side to move upwards. DJ hasn't proved himself outside of League One yet and both Omari Coleman (ex-Dulwich) and Scott Fitzgerald (ex-Northwood) have left Watford having not been up to scratch at Championship level. Beckford will get limited opportunities at Leeds, I'd suggest.

 

The only exception is Jay Demerit, a centre-back who Watford signed from Northwood although he only played one or two pre-season games for them (one against Watford) having come over from the States so it's not like he was an established non-league player before moving on.
