racism

Recommended Posts

I am an ETFC fan from the begining and an old time Enfield fan of old. I was present at the Derby game on Saturday and feel obliged to report the following:

A well known ETFC fan made racist comments behind the goal in the First half....Something along the lines of 'the ref has given all the decisions there way because they got more blacks in their team'.... I will not name him but when he reads this (if he does) he will know who he is..

I was quite shocked that someone could state this bearing in mind OUR club is built on 'kick racism out of football' campaign and we have had some great players this season and past who give their all for the club such as Dave Allen who was playing on Saturday, Kevin Stephens, Kojo etc etc...

Looking back in the history of the old club Dave Howell, Paul Furlong, Dave Flint, Martin St Hilaire and the list could go on and on..

You KNOW who you are and the comments you made where disgusting!!! If you've got the guts to come forward please explain why you made them??

I heard you and you've been caught!!

Regards

Play offs....hear we come!!!

Why create a new account to tell everyone this? To be fair, it's slightly difficult to take your post genuinely as no-one knows who you are, and you're being very secretive about your identity. What are you afraid of?

Why not email Andy Hatvani and tell him who the culprit is, and Andy will deal with it from there. There's not much point bringing it up on the forums.

Cheers for your comments Robson.

My post is genuine.... The bloke who said it is usually very drunk behind the goal home and away.

I am new to this computer world so had to create an account...

I wanted to bring it to everyones attention in this manner as this is a 'fans forum' for real fans who should know what this man said..

He knows who he is and should own up... and the bloke he was speaking to knows who he is as well... Why doesn't he own up and admit it??

I am not emailing Mr Hatvani.

I agree that there is no place for racism at Enfield Town (or anywhere else for that matter) - I'm just not sure if this is the best way to deal with it as it opens up a whole can of worms from a legal perspective.

I recognise your good intent and you should be applauded for taking a stand. If I knew who the person was, I would inform Andy as he can warn the supporter on his future conduct.

Have just read this post & would like to say that "SHOULD" anyone hear any racist chants at any ETFC game, they should report this straight away to our Safety Officer Dave Farenden. If they do not know who Dave is (He is the giuy in the bright orange bib), then report it to one of the other Safety Stewards (the gous in yellow bibs.)

We at ETFC do not tolerate any sort of racist chants or abuse. That is why we are part of the "Kick Racism Out of Football Scheme" Any person found to be using foul or abusive language or chanting racist abuse will be removed from the ground, as stated in our ground rules.

I would like to know why this "Poster" has left it untill now to come forward.

I think this is the sort of incident that makes people take action by setting up the account in order to make posts. I applaud thevoiceoftruth for making the post on the forum. Isn’t that exactly what a forum is for? I heard similar racist comments at the Potters Bar game at their place. An ETFC fan said to his mates that the Potters Bar black players were being leniently treated because the referee was also black.

When Waltham Abbey came to Brimmo and a fan of theirs made racist comments everyone jumped onto the forum to praise the action of our stewards for ejecting him from the ground.

I go back to what I said earlier.

'There is also a supporters' code of conduct in place and fellow supporters should assist the club at all times when they feel others are stepping out of line'.

The few stewards ETFC have cannot be everywhere at the same time. If this sort of thing happens again, and either Dave F or stewards are not around, then find a board member and tell them to deal with the matter.

As a supporters owned club we all have a duty to stamp this behaviour out.

Just a technical point: without condoning the sentiments expressed, it appears from the account of the alleged incident that no chanting or singing was involved. The individual expresed an opinion in a normal speaking voice to a friend.

Although the only colour that matters to me is that of the player's shirt, I would hate to think we have stewards tip-toeing round the ground eavesdropping on conversations to check for foul or racist language.

There is a big difference between the chanting of racists songs/shouting out offensive noises...etc, and simlpy commenting to a fellow supporter that the ref himself might be racist. (ie..favouring players because of race).

It might have been a naive comment, but i don't see it as racist in itself, because the comment wasn't putting someone down or discrimating against a person because of race, but mearly pointing out racial ties as a percieved factor.
