I've just had a knock at the door from somebody representing Sumander Khan, Conservative councillor standing in my ward in the local elections. I talked to him about the football club and asked to speak directly to Cllr Khan regarding his stance on the issue. I was assured that Cllr Khan would come back to my door in due course and address my concerns directly.

 

Has he come back???? Has he [****!!****]!

 

His door knocker/agent seemed to have a little bit of briefing about what the football club issue was about but the best he could offer me was that if I vote for Khan, he may be able to put pressure on Dexter Smith to change his approach towards the football club - a suggestion which I laughed at.

 

Still, when the Labour candidate comes knocking at my door I expect a similar level of bullshitting. Bring her on!!!

I had a similar issue with turncoat, oops, I mean cllr Howard two years ago. He wasn't interested in getting votes for the conservative party (who he was representing that week), he just wanted a vote for himself.

 

"Well vote us in and we'll see what we can do" was his lame response when questioned about the football club.

i dont believe anyone has come to our door yet, the only political candidate that we know if definately up for the election is our very own marcus kirby.

well when i asked him what he would do to promote our cause a few weeks ago on msn his response was along the lines of 'no idea' <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Had a conservative chap knock at the door last night. We mentioned the football club and how they had done nothing to help and this influenced our voting preferences. He then went into his rhetoric about how other things are more important like them stopping a load of houses being built on Castleview. Personally, I don't give a flying f*** if they build houses on Castleview!

 

We then asked whether they planned to side with the Liberals and Independents to which he said yes, as they had no other choice. We explained by doing so they were effectively creating a two party election where people were then forced to choose between voting labour or not labour. We made our position very clear that there was no way on God's earth we would vote for any party who chooses to side with Stokes, the Britwell Independents or the others involved in their hotchpotch alliance.

 

Nice chap but didn't seem to want to address our issues. I'm not sure they really like being challenged.

No one ever comes to my door as they cant work out how to get into the flats i live in so they just leave flyers outside,

got a phone call today with a survey on slough borough council and what i think of it. i did make sure to mention that i was a slough fan and that i had issues with the council over the ground issue, the person on the other end of the phone seemed to know a little about it, but i dont actually know if what i said made it onto the answers.

I think the idea should be not to let them know you are a Slough fan to try and find out their 'true' thoughts on it. As soon as they hear you're a Slough fan, they'll answer accordingly.

The idea of canvessing is just to find out if you will vote for them or not, they aren't really interested in chatting.

Exactly, so the tactic is to try and keep the "opposition" talking as long as possible, so they get to less doors, whilst telling "your side" to keep moving....

Oh, he seemed very keen to talk, just only about the issues he wanted to talk about. When we kept bringing it back to the football club, he didn't really have an answer other than to say there's other important issues.
