I had a perfect view of that incident, and yes McCarthy overreacted; however I think it was just a natural instinct to retaliate like that, he was slapped and kicked whilst on the floor... and football match or no football match I think it's only human to react to that in the way that he did. Doesn't make it right though.

And it doesn't help that he has a hot temper either.

In my job, which by it's nature is confrontational with the public, I am simply not allowed to respond to word or deed - it is a sacking offence.

Yeah, and obviously football is really similar to your job. Did Arsenal sack Vieira when he spat at Neil Ruddock? Did Man Utd sack Roy Keane after retaliating against Alfe Inge Haaland?

The answer to that is, I believe, 'no'...

True, but what would you have said if it was an opposition player retaliating like that?

On the one hand we complain when the team lacks passion,
on the other we complain when somebody does!

The key is for the likes of our skipper to channel this passion into the right places.

Dont you think overall that is our problem as a team, we lack belief and passion?? Which can at times make up for some lack of fundimental skill,s

Sorry , but what I have said doesn't differ from the opinion of EVERYONE around me yesterday. To a man, woman and child, all thought MaCarthy's actions were a disgrace. I merely voiced on here what 100% of those near me thought as well.
We can't all be wrong.

You should stand in a different place mate !! maybe one nearer the incident ? or preferably in the Plough !

Cheers,
