I had a perfect view of that incident, and yes McCarthy overreacted; however I think it was just a natural instinct to retaliate like that, he was slapped and kicked whilst on the floor... and football match or no football match I think it's only human to react to that in the way that he did. Doesn't make it right though.

 

And it doesn't help that he has a hot temper either.

Yeah, and obviously football is really similar to your job. Did Arsenal sack Vieira when he spat at Neil Ruddock? Did Man Utd sack Roy Keane after retaliating against Alfe Inge Haaland?

True, but what would you have said if it was an opposition player retaliating like that?

It's funny, but I dont remeber GC making all this fuss when another player was sent off for the same offence against Stevenage and probably cost us the match.

on the other we complain when somebody does!

 

The key is for the likes of our skipper to channel this passion into the right places.

If you take the passion out of some players they lose their game as well. But I understand your point CG. Particularly as I would only count Bobby Bowry and Ross Smith as the only to other experienced players on the pitch.

Dont you think overall that is our problem as a team, we lack belief and passion?? Which can at times make up for some lack of fundimental skill,s
