Fleet win game shocker

Thought that Dan had a blinding game, it's good to see him back. He did really well against the likes of Justin Richards, kept him out of the game, and stood up really well. He also looked good going forward. Thought that Jukey had a relatively good game, not at his best though. Great goal from Brad, and Luke too. At first when he hit the shot, I thought it was going over!!

Really pleased for Luke, if that had been Charlie we would have said goal of the season!!

Someone's been absent from a few games this year...

As we have only scored 8 league goals at home prior to Woking "this year", ie 2006, it probably was one of the best goals of the year.

And implying that there have been a plethora of goals better than Lukes this season is really going to boost the confidence of a 17 year old who just scored his first senior goal for the club.

To say that there have been other Fleet goals better than Luke's this season isn't criticizing Luke in any way; it's simply a realistic statement. Luke took the goal well, and it is only right that we give him credit for that, but that praise isn't affected in any way by me saying that Jay's first goal at Woking, for example, was more spectacular.

So one minute it's the goal of the season, the next it's the goal of 2006? Next it'll be 'goal of the match'

I wasn't saying Luke's goal wasn't well taken, nor was I attempting to harm his confidence, but I'm sure he, and even you, will agree that his fifteen-yard finish was never going to be as spectacular as, say, Charlie's last minute lob at Canvey, Bradley's freekick at Daggers, or Charlie's diving header at East Thurrock.

It is hard, I fear, to comment on goal of the season when one only attends home games.

Don't forget, Charlie is a seasoned striker, whilst Luke is a novice, who had the burden of not having scored a senior goal round his neck. He had lots of time for nerves to get hold, but he kept his cool, kept control of the ball on a bumpy pitch and scored a belter past the encumbent England non-league keeper.
It's a goal he will not forget in a hurry.

I was going to question how long this arguement would last without it being closed. Facts are it was a great goal for him, which went a long way to securing the three points. Well doen Luke, just make sure you put one away at morecambe, halifax, and Burton

Gary, hurry up and get well so that you can return to work. You obviously have far too much time on your hands at present if you are intent on arguing with people on this forum when they are not arguing with you at all. Otherwise join HJA and go into self-imposed exile until the start of next season. I would gladly give £20 to the Fleet Trust if you were to do so!

Cor, that's a bit unkind, kmj, especially as my vitriol towards LD has been curtailed. I didn't argue with any fleet supporters, merely "bigged up" Lukes goal, which in my opinion was one of the best goals I have seen this season, because of the factors against him, which I have already listed.

You are right, though, even my better half reckons I have too much time on my hands, - guess who is painting and decorating all next week - just so I get to see the Cup final, Burton and Wimbledon in the space of 5 days?
