Jacko....

Recommended Posts

Let us hope not. I would have serious issues with the Club were he to be released. My season ticket application is now definitely on hold and what is more I will make my feelings known directly to the Directors at the earliest opportunity available.

I don't usually express an opinion but I felt we were going full time too early and I think that Jacko as a part time player was equally as good as any of the full timers - admittedly Jimmy is quite an exceptional asset to the club. He gives 100%+ every time he wears a G&NF shirt and I can't believe that he would want to go and I would be most interested to know the club's reason if they require him to go. I do have sympathy with the club as I feel certain supporters were putting pressure on them last season to go full time but maybe just maybe we should have stayed as we were and tried to capture the cream of the players who didn't want full time football - i.e. players like Jacko. Hope to see you next season Jimmy?

It does seem like the plan is to be completely full-time by next season but although Jacko is listed as part-time my understanding is that, thanks to an understanding employer, Jacko rarely misses a training session.

Every player, no matter how popular, eventually will be replaced by someone younger and hopefully better but I think Jacko has demonstrated this season that he isn't ready to be replaced yet.

Lets hope this is just another rumour.

Over Christmas last season Jacko had a bit of a dip in form, and it was only natural for one to wonder whether his return from Dagenham would work out. But since then he's returned to his status as possibly our most consistently good performer. If he were to leave and the reason for his departure were his inability to satisfy the club's wishes in the switch from part-time to full-time, it would be an absolute travesty.

It has to be said, you do get the feeling that part-timers are being slowly pushed out, and the few that we now have are well worth their place in team, this has been said before but the commitment of these few is second to none and the club needs to have a long hard look at itsel,f if this is the way they are treating them, the fans will most certainly let their feelings known.
