Enfield Town 2-2 Enfield FC

Attendance... didn't hear the official announcement, but easily 700+ and surely an Enfield Town record.

I can't give you too many specific details on the game, as I'm literally exhausted!

Town hit the post after about 2 minutes.

Then Enfield FC scored a superb goal, drilled into the top left hand corner - no stopping it. Enfield FC scored again, but I missed the goal so can't explain what happened.

To be honest, I thought Town were at least equal, perhaps even better than their counterparts and were unfortunate to be going into the break 2-0 down.

Second half commences, hundreds of people behind the goal for Town - plenty of singing and chanting which clearly encouraged the lads.

Many chances came our way, but the clinical touches were going wayward - very frustrating. Town were awarded a penalty in the 78th minute, which was duly converted. Then in about the 85th minute(?) Town scored again - cue delerium behind the goal.

Then, in what seemed Enfield FC's only attack in the second half, they broke free and had a player through on goal, who was taken down by the keeper - blatant penalty I feel - which was duly awarded by the referee.

But he missed.... score still 2-2 - in about the 91st minute.

Then Enfield Town scored again... dissallowed.

One of the most incredible games I have ever witnessed with either Enfield FC or Enfield Town - absolutely superb entertainment.

Well done to Enfield FC, and well done to the Town for never giving up - we always believed in you.

One final note... "Number four's, wife's a whore"... we didn't mean it really... it just rhymed is all.

I'll not comment on the banter going on between Enfield FC and Enfield Town fans - some of it was a little nasty - this is a real rivalry now.

And may it long continue.

PS - this was in no way a biased report, and no I have not been drinking.

Shame, two points dropped especially as Corby beat Stamford 1 - 0. Need six points from the remaining two games and need Corby to lose or draw. If they draw one game we would pip them on goal difference. If both teams win all their remaining games we would lose out on automatic promotion by one point. They would have 84 and ours would be 83. The losses on home turf will be our downfall.

EFC were the better side first half.Town couldn't come to terms with the bouncy pitch and EFC's workrate, and seen to be sulking.

Second half was vintage Enfield Town.Came back well.scored two of about ten chances, but should have scored earlier in the second half.Ref blows for dodgy fouls on three occassions as Town put the ball into the net.

Overall, a dire first half and an action packed second half.Fair play to EFC producing their best fooball especially in the first half. For Town it was another game at home where we only came to life once the other team had scored.Town desereved to win it easily on chances created, but i don't begrudge EFC the point.they raised their game more than we did.

They could possibly drop points in 'three' games. We only have two left.Whos going to Uxbridge next week. With Corby's average away record.I fancy Uxbridge for draw.

Lee summed it up not too bad.

Town put the ball in the net 4 times. One after a shove from Bryan Hammatt and I think the other disallowed was offside.

The EFC penalty was NOT a penalty. The player went down pole axed before Mark Cussons got near him. Are you Drogba in disguise? The save was justice, but we got the decision we deserved.

We only know one way to play football and that is on the front foot. we won 7 games on the bounce going forwards - not backwards. The fisrt half was embarassing for town fans

And your penalty looked even more dubious......

Wont argue with that Blade, the lino gave it but the ref took an age to give it for handball, I was to the right of the goal so behind the incident so couldnt say.

Town's penalty should not have been given by the lino - the ball was not handled. Unfortunately it was the same old problem for ETFC: lightweight up front. Thought Velandia had a pretty poor game and Cousins had a nightmare with the second EFC goal slipping through his hands. Anyway, automatic promotion is now out of our hands and I suspect Jim'll have to raise the lads for the play-offs. Go on Town!
