Finished 2-1. Conceded early on in the second half and didn't really get back into the match. Great goal from Harris in the first half and nearly snatched an equaliser through Westy in the final moments.

Good performance despite the loss. After half time Braintree were a completely different team - Borg obviously had a few words to say.

 

What must be mentioned is Parkin's performance today, had a couple of moments but he pulled of 3/4 amazing saves in the game and kept us within a chance of an equalizer. Well played Parky!

 

Although, why did we play so many long balls upfront when neither McCleary or Ide had no chance of winning the ball in the air?

I thought Charlie Ide was brilliant in the first half. Woody also put in a performance that was a million times better than last week.

well done Slough...great effort and a good game , Braintree were not very happy at times and this was down to Slough Playing some very very good football especially in the first half, which was quality ! yes we tired in the second half and Briantree eventually got their hand back on the game..but Slough were galant fighters and gave them a good run for their win !

 

Up the rebels..

I was told at the end of the game that it was my fault Slough didn't snatch a point. Apologies all round. I did remarkably well to morph into Westy and fluff that chance in the last minute though.

 

First 45 I thought we were excellent one of our better performances of the season - the tempo was excellent and whilst we were under pressure we defended well. All were good but Ide, Alexis, Steele and Parky stood out for me. Woody had a much better game and was entirely focussed.

 

We got caught cold at the start of the second and couldn't really keep up the level of the first half which is unsurprising really.

 

What we should remember is that when we play full time pros like Braintree - it is effectively a cup game agianst higher level opponents and most times we should lose. Today we came close to getting a point or more so well done to Eddie and the boys.

I think it was your Dad's fault, Martin. Just at the point Westy got that ball in the box he looked up and instead of seeing the gaping net, saw your Dad in a suit. Threw him completely! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Full time professionals? I think you'll find the Braintree players have to make a living in day jobs just as your players do.

Played well first-half, but second-half had an end of season feel about it from our point of view. Difference between the two sides was one man - Braintree's Alex Revell.
