Decent coverage

Recommended Posts

Looks like we got some very decent paper space in this weeks express, in 4 different articles.

For those who havent seen it thats 2 in sport (one on mondays match v windsor, one on the folkstone game), and 2 in news (one on election campaign, one on ashley hames 'manager' and tv the programme).

Plus a very ill informed letter from Cllr Hewitt (liberal) knocking the club and trust.

No doubt this weekend and next, all parties will be out knocking on doors. It will be well worthwhile if all candidates from all parties are quizzed on their stance on finding the club a home, as no doubt some others will be as badly informed as Hewitt.

What a letter from an ill informed cllr Hewitt ex mayor of Slough ! I think his article has shot himself in the foot..ill truths...just shows how low they can go !

1) Did Martin Deaner demand a stadium - no

2) Have we ask for hand outs - No

3) I chris Sliski spoke with Cheryl Coppell in the high street and ask her to set up the meeting..not the other way round !..(I am still waiting ! yet they say they have tried to arrange a meeting..someone please tell the supporters secretary when and where and what time..I have been waiting for over 2 years now !)

4) Wexham park option and almalgamation and a smaller sized stadium were not options !

These were co outs by the present council leader to deflect the real issues and Ideas of where and how the football club was trying to sort out its problems albeit with help from the council...which is not forth coming we all know that for sure ! with the present coalition in place...

5) Cllr Hewitt does not know the Wexham Park is not owned by us, so how can we go back ? and we are governed by League Rules and would have to secure a 7 year lease period, where Bryon Thorne was not interested.

Why do they tell so many un truths..if they had taken the trouble to speak with us ask us we would have enlighten them !

He must be scared to try and put our election bid into the mud...but to tell a fairy stories only shows us what these cllrs are really like ! They are more interested in them selves instead of the people they represent...We are the people of Slough Too!!!

Cllr Hewitt ... you deserve to lose your seat..with such rubbish as you reported in the paper !

leave now....

I think that the letter shows that putting candidates in the election is being successful---it is ensuring that the clubs plight is being talked about by the politicians. Hopefully the Express will publish the replies pointing out how ill informed Hewitt is.

editor@sloughexpress.co.uk is the mail address for letters. I'll be writing one.

Let's not be surprised though. Stokes and his cronies have been demonstrating a total lack of knowledge about the situation ever since they took over. Furthermore, they have clearly shown they aren't bothered and this has now got them scared as they can see they might lose a few votes.

Chris - as well as people writing letters to the address above, is it worth an "official" response from the Trust? I'm quite happy to draft something. Can't let this idiot go unchallenged.

It does feel like we are banging our heads against a brick wall though. Two years ago we went to the town hall and explained to the council exactly what the situation is with regards to Wexham Park without any "bias" - just properly informed comment. It is not what they want to hear so it is ignored. Why they think we need a Conference National standard stadium is beyond me. If we had our own home that would be our long term goal but at this stage we need considerably less and require no council tax payers money.

I've written about the way councillors play politics in the Windsor programme, mudding the water to confuse/defuse the issue - although some councillors get their facts wrong cos they are just stupid.

Ted's right tho', having our own candidates standing has made it an issue again. If you look at other clubs, it could just take a lot of time and effort to get back to the town.

If people are writing to the paper in response, one important point to raise, in my opinion, is this issue of money.

They claim we want millions of tax payers money which we know is not true yet, to date, Slough Council and therefore tax payers have received £300,000 out of the football club (sale of Wexham Park) of which not one penny has been reinvested in the club.

They're getting a better deal of of us than we are out of them. They seem to forget that. They might turn round and say that deal was under Labour administration but when they received the money it wasn't.

excuse my lack of knowledge as i do not know as much about the situation as some other fans, but surely all we want is a ground that meets the standards of the ryman/southern premier with room to improve the facilities should the opportunity for promotion arise?

and where did 20million come from?

Actually we don't want a ground at all. Just the opportunity to work with the council to source a piece of land which we'll pay a fair value for which we can then develop a ground on.

£20 million came from the same place as their statistics....cloud cuckoo land.
