urchins in 10 years

Recommended Posts

where would you all like to see the urchins in the next 10 years, been thinking about it this morning with the events at canvey and with grays on tv last night and i would be happy to have a couple of days like darlo or tranmere and to do well within the non league structure(ie ryman prem or conf south)

i like the club as it is at the moment, everyone seems to get on with each other and the staff are all fully committed to the cause, just been thinking about it at work, what are your views??

i was watching grays last night and was thinking about all their new fans and then i was thinking that in the conf south and below,us as fans have our own identity,we are well known in the non league as a bunch of noisy loons and i like it,just wondered if we would of gone further whether we would have the same identity

Conf South was great. However, all clubs need a difficult and often unachieveable goal (sorry for the pun!) to strive for. Surely for us this is Football League status? At this moment a very far away dream - but its nice to dream! It is a dilemma though - do we prefer to be a big fish in a small pond or a small fish in a large pond? A small close-knit club is brilliant but it may be inevitable that we must adapt if future success is what is desired.

pretty much what i had been thinking, have really enjoyed being in the esl this year and looking forward to the next few years wherever it takes us,i do believe that we want to win every match we play in so our goal must be to go as far as we can, would also love to see a couple of big cup or trophy games down at the bridge, can't beat the buzz of those games darlo, tranmere, stevenage and burton amongst others!!

I would not like to see Hornchurch in the league because success does take something away when you rise from a low level.

I was a regular at Fulham through their rise from division 4 to the prem. When they reached the Prem i stopped going as something was missing. The old spirit had gone and new faces on the terraces seemed to change the who atmosphere of the club.

I for one would be happy to see Hornchurch flirting with the conference and no more.

Maybe the ideal scenario for us is to be a strong Conference South club and look forward to long and illustrious F.A. Cup runs whilst winning the F.A. Trophy every year of course. As a club grows I think there is a point where a transformation occurs and some of the good things die. I agree that biggest is not always best. This is a very interesting topic for discussion.

Indeed, this was my first reaction, to dream of Hornchurch in the Premiership! But when you stop and think for a while the doubts set in. Hopefully this analogy won't be lost on too many people. In the past I have worked for a very large company where the individual felt that what he did had no real outcome on how the company performed. Then seven years ago I moved to a small company of only nine people. Now I feel I make an active contribution and what I do can make a difference. I am happy where I am and would not contemplate moving back to a large company - even for bigger rewards. Biggest isn't always best (IMHO of course).

Hornchurch in the Premiership, not in our life time Sid....<img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

There has to be a goal for everyone to aim at otherwise things will get very stale. Conf south is a realistic target and we should be aiming at that over the coming years, but like i've said above its all down to money and i think we are all aware how hard everyone at the club has worked this year in keeping afch going. They have proven it can be achived in difficult circumstances.
