Sponsored Walk Update

Ian

Recommended Posts

It's now only 11 days until we embark on our end of season sponsored walk to Harrow. Numbers are steadily increasing and we hope to have about 30 people taking part. There's still plenty of time however to get yourself a sponsor form, raise some money and take part. It's only a short walk this year at 12.6 miles by road and there are a number of youngsters taking part so don't let them put you to shame!

Forms can be obtained as a download from the Supporters Trust website, from the Supporters Hut on a matchday, by leaving a message on here or by e-mailing me directly on ian@sloughtownfc.net

For those already confirmed to take part, the start time from Wexham Park will be 9.00 A.M. This will give us plenty of time to stop along the way and arrive at Harrow comfortably before the game, even for the least sprightly people taking part.

The local press will be there to record our departure so make sure you are there by 8.45 A.M. at the latest, not least of all because if you don't then you won't get a copy of the directions! To ensure we walk the shortest distance possible it's quite a convoluted route so you'll definitely want to get a copy and avoid walking unnecessary additional miles!

If you are unable to take part but would like to sponsor someone who is, please post a note on here and we'll add you to the list. Thanks for your support.

Ian.

P.S. Anyone planning on taking part who needs a free place on the coach to get back should let Alan Harding know.

I have the directions written up at home in the form of a step by step guide. It's so clear, even girls could follow it, and we all know what they're like at following maps!

I'll let you have it on e-mail later, Gaz, and you can put it up on the Trust web site.

Thanks for posting the times Ian.
I think I'll be staying over in Slough the night before now.

Sorry about the start time! Veteran walkers should complete the journey in about 4 hours which will mean arriving at 1.00 P.M. However, we have to cater for the slowest in calculating the right time to leave and as there's kids walking this year (which will be fantastic to see) we have to allow for their tired feet!

Anyway, to quote Martin from previous years, "The earlier I get there, the more drinking time it gives me before the game."

Ian

Firstly , I am very happy to sponsor someone as I am unable to take part myself so if one of our intrepid walkers finds me on Easter Monday with a form....... for those who dont know me I am the prat in the hat who sits at the front of the stand!

Secondly my daughter is the local boss at Shelter and knows nothing of this and says that their fund raising people are also unaware of it.

Is there a message you might want me to give her ?

Thanks in advance

Good luck to everyone who will join the walk and hope you will get 3 points at Harrow.

I will put £20 to Wayne who will join the walk.

PS: Maybe I should walk from Sweden to Slough for next season ; )).

Hope to see you next season.

COME ON YOU REBELS !!

You won't be the only one Chris! I'm also a tad low on sponsors, so if there's anyone out there who is not already sponsoring someone, or who would like to sponsor someone else too then that would be great.
