I see from the official site that there will be a meeting between the management of the club and the supporters, to discuss what happens from now on in.

EVERYBODY who has an inkling of feeling for Canvey Island FC HAS to be there on Thursday - we have to save this club and not let it slide into obscurity - or worse.

7.30pm - Clubhouse, Park Lane - PLEASE MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO BE THERE... <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/bawling.gif" alt="" />

Everyone should try their best to be present for the meeting first hand. There are just too many conflicting reports both on here and in the Press to be able to comment realistically on where we will be in August.

At least on Thursday we can hear it all straight from the horse's mouth and re-organise accordingly.

I feel too many fans are being negative..the club has been relying too much on jeff paying for the club on his own, this situation has been on the cards for a long time. All what has been said is that jeff (king company) is no longer prepared to back the club on his own, and that things have to change...there may be sponsors out there willing to sponsor the club, the club should not have expected jeff to pay for the club on his own anyway, it makes good practice to have more than one main sponsor...we the fans should not panic yet and wait to hear officaly what is happening. it may end up good news by finding more backing for the club.worst case could be that the club loses all it first team players in the closed season, we have a good reserve side, give them a go the the confrence...the essex senior league is not a oppion...we may find a backer who wants a full time canvey fc who knows.....lets wait and see....

Your points about relying on Jeff are very valid, nearly all clubs who are run that way end up in trouble sooner rather than later but what if another backer does come forward to finance us. Do we take their money and run the risk that they could pull out in a season or so and we end up back in this same situation or do we drop the club down to a level we can cope with and try and build the club back up?

Jeff has stated that he will not turn the club over to just anyone so any potential backer would need his blessing before he could get involved.

Yes we have a talented reserve side but they couldn`t be expected to cope week in week out against full-time sides in the Conference.

As for what league we play in next season, i`m thinking anything above Essex Senior would be a bonus.

if Jeff is pulling his money out and only becoming a manager i dont think he has the right to refuse anyone coming in and helping out financially

You do wonder if Jeff has been told by his dad that he must stop spending money on the club..

I beleive Jack had already pulled out some of his money over the last few months which i presume meant Jeff was footing all the bills..

With the money the Kings Family are apparently worth you do wonder why they didn't have a shot at building a new ground and trying to take the club forward. As much as i hate saying it just look at Grays, they have a new grounf being built in 2009

i know crowds are down but i personally feel with updraded facilities and more effort in promoting the club things could & would have worked

May be the Kings are fed up not getting backing for the new ground? When I first heard about this I thought it might just be a threat to push along any planning applications but alas no.

At the end of the day, it their money and they have given us a lot of it, so thanks for that. But in reality, you might buy a football club, but you never own it, it belongs to no-one person or group but rather to a wide range of stakeholders.
