Canvey agree to let Boylan leave

Canvey Island striker Lee Boylan has had a transfer requested accepted by the Conference club.

"Lee said he wants to play in the Football League and I understand that," Canvey boss Jeff King told BBC Sport.

Boylan has scored over 170 goals for Canvey since joining the club in 2001 and has netted 10 times this season, despite lengthy spells out with injury.

The 27-year-old, who started his career at West Ham, is under contract for next season so is likely to command a fee.

He won't be the only one. We can't afford him and he won't really want to drop down divisions if the Club have to.

Thanks Lee, good luck.

Will we see him at Grays before the end of the season?

who knows maybe we can make enough money from selling players to keep us afloat.

some good players will be going and they will be missed. good luck to them all in the future and hopefully they will move on to bigger and better things

i presume any money the club makes from selling players will go straight into Jeff's pocket as he has been paying the wage bill from day one..

I think 99% of the players are out of contract at the end of this season so they will be free to leave without a fee..

It does make you wonder why Jeff signed Joe Dolan on a 2 and a half year contract only a few months ago if he was thinking about pulling out his funding!? Very Strange

is there no transfer deadline for this season?

That's true, I forgot about that. Still doesn't mean it won't be a done deal before the end of the season! <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

part of the risk of taking on a project like this is that you are going to loose money, if Jeff is pulling his money out then why should the clubs assets go to him?

as far as players being out of contract it just shows that alot of bad buisness management has been in place

CG it depends what league you are playing in. if you go to the essex senior i would be surprised to see a single first teamer stay. but you have a very good reserve side who could step up.

MATT - if he has put in the request now maybe there is something we dont know

I agree, as long as they're willing to play for the Club on a minimal wage then I'm all for it. Of the first team, only those that have been with us when we were in the Ryman i.e. Wardy and maybe Duffy and Cheners will have any chance of remaining. But I think their contracts are up this season as well.

Keep it together Ribbit, but just try and get to the meeting on Thursday. Hopefully there, all will be revealed. I'm confident they're working on it behind the scenes.

Main focus must be on which league we'll be playing in and who is willing to play for us.

we will be playing in the confrence next year for sure! and not every player plays for high wages! some players would die to just be playing in the confrence. we will get past this and the team will become stronger, and we wont have players there just to pick up payslips we will have players who want to wear the CIFC Shirt and play for canvey island!!!

it will be nice to hear what the club has done to prevent this from happening and what it has done to secure future funding. looking at it from a business point of view (something that i feel needs to be done) there but be projection sheets and business plans. there must have been projected forecasts and financial analysis that has seen this coming and hopefully plans must have been looked into.
