Whilst I commiserate with your current circumstances, I can only think that the majority was brought on by yourselves and your manager. There are a lot of decent Canvey fans but there are a lot more who tended to throw your wealth in other teams faces. The worst exponent of this was Jeff King himself. He just loved walking past visiting fans rubbing his fingers together (talking about money obviously). Not the ideal way to win friends and influence people!

As I have said, commiserations to the die hards but the situation could only have been improved if Jeff King had gone bankrupt. What goes around, comes around (Thank JK for that!)

4 years ago maybe when I think a few people got a bit arrogant after winning the Trophy and cup runs etc. The whole losing the league to Gravesend humbled us a bit and the arrogant ones on this forum seemed to dissapear.

Must admit that you could be right Yellow. I suppose my post was a bit of a rant. Just trying to give a few reasons for some of the more disparaging post that you will receive.

We didn't win alot of friends that year. Same happened with Hornchurch when they first got in the Ryman Premier. The arrogance definitely disappeared after the financial problems and subsequent reformation they endured.

I think that Hornchurch are a different case to you. When the money arrived, so did an increased fan base(glory hunters) Where are they now? At Bedford town, we are experiencing the same attendance problems as you. There will always be a hard-core support of 350 - 400 fans, but it is difficult to increase that week in, week out.

Glory Hunters? we still average 400 at home in the essex senior league. we bring 100 - 200 away every game, and if you have ever been to grounds like hullbridge and southend manor, you would understand what an achievement that is. Are highest attendance this season is 702, compared to 550 of yours. Are fans are top quality.
