My personal opinion is:

Being a big fish in a small pond did help us win the esl.

I believe us as fans have played are part in this superb football club, and hopefully have spurred the players on. I've noticed that this season the players have celbrated more with the fans than in any other season. Players at this level are not used to playing in front of crowds of are size. I dont know wether the players had anything to prove, but i have thoroughly enjoyed this season.

Alot of questions there.

I'd like to think so. I'd like to think that we played a really valuable part.

All I know is when I played in front of a few hundred people, in a cup final when I was younger, it does spur you on a little.

So I'd like to say yeah, we did out bit I suppose?? Of course you can't take it away from those on the pitch who actually played but you know....

i just think we had better players than the other sides, you only had to see our capital league side last night beat thurrock with a few decent players in it(ie terry bowes) to realise we have a fantastic squad packed with talent, but then again i do think 4-500 fans at most home games and vocal support does help

Make no mistake lads the fans at our great club effectively are the fulcrum of progression.

Ask any other ESL club or Connie South for that if they'd like gates like ours and they would jump at it.

Burnham must be licking their lips at the prospect of another visit from the Urchin Army.

During the last few years the fanbase at this club has grown into a family and long may that be the case.

Shut?

you gotta be avin a giraffe, all those thirsty throats and they would not have arranged the final there if that was the case.

If there is a function after I believe the bar will be open for us, they're not gonna turn away a potential moneyspinner are they?

OR we can all go back to Fawlty Towers!!

First of all I would like to thank you for inviting me to post on your forum. I think that I need to explain my comments on the Canvey forum. I was explaining to YELLOW that most clubs have a hardcore support of 350 - 400 loyal fans. The main problem is increasing that amount week in - week out. YELLOW used Hornchurch as an example but I disagreed. What I was trying to say is that every club that has a bit of spare cash, playing well and going on a cup run, will always have glory hunters. At my own club, Bedford Town, we played Peterborough at the opening of our new ground. 3000 people turned up. 7 days later we had less than 700 for our first league game. When we played Peterborough in the FA Cup, in front of the MOTD cameras, we sold out of tickets (2600). For the replay we took 2000 to Peterborough. The following game the attendance was about 600.

Canvey had good cup runs and filled Park Lane. They took a lot more than 500 to the two trophy finals.

Hornchurch's attendances went through the roof when Karl Williams was bankrolling you. It was the people who jumped on the bandwaggon when the money was their, but jumped off as soon as it went, that I was calling Glory Hunters. I was not refering to the die-hard supporters who were there before, during and after KW. If you took this to be the case, then please accept my apologies.

Looking back at my posts on the CIFC forum, I can give no justification for my comments regarding Coldseal. Again I apologies.

I didn't go onto the Canvey forum to slag off Hornchurch or rub salt into Canvey's wounds. I was just offering my own opinion as to the low attendances. I also tried to give a bit of an insight into how other clubs view Jeff King.

I would never taunt another non-league club who get into difficulties (unless it's Kettering!...joke) Bedford Town went out of business in 1982 and were only reformed in 1990 through the perseverance and tenacity of commited supporters.

I hope that this post explains a few things better and once again, if I have upset anyone, I apologies. This was never my intention.

Topman Yella and you keep up the good work. I have enjoyed the company of my Canvey friends over the last few years and long may it continue.

But this is not the place to debate other clubs fortunes methinks, merely to add our support to them in what must be a difficult time for some who love their club.
