rumours are flying around, hopefully an official statement will come from the club regarding the meeting yesterday.

 

for all of our songs about the islanders, and mickey taking about their crowds, the ones that do turn up are football fans just like us.

I think it best that we perhaps keep off their forum for the time being westy...I posted a short sympathetic response to matt yesterday and we all got called a bunch of twats...(not by matt I must add) <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

 

most canvey fans are good fans and they must be bewildered by the lack of info coming thru the channels....there have been rumours about jeff king leaving for a long while now but this time it all seems a bit further towards 'something' actually happening...

 

lets keep out fingers crossed for 'em all and hope that it all works out for them...they can survive life as a club after jeff..

Would never call you twats Unc, your hospitality when I've visited has been second to none and I'm sure Canvey fans would extend to Urchins the same courtesy.

 

If any Urchins can make it to Park Lane on Friday then please do so. It's a big game against Kidderminster Harriers and all support would be greatly appreciated. I'm sure we'll even allow you to wear Hornchurch colours, (although you could well blend in with the Kiddie lot) and you can sing up with the Yellow Army to your heart's content. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Feelings are running a bit high on our forums at the mo. I saw some negative comments on the Billericay and Bedford forums and had a bit of a rant about it.

I remember you saying all those months ago that you find out who your friends are and who your enemies are at a time like this.

 

It's not beyond the realms of possibility we'll be playing each other next season. We're both similar club, been through the good times and the bad but retain a hardcore support that is second to none.

 

I always knew that We could bank on your support at a time like this. It's best to forget your enemies and concentrate on your friends.

Good luck to all involved at Canvey, we've had some great games against you lot and your rise has been metioric. I think a bit of local effort to get the locals out is needed. Canvey Island should have a decent team.

Sorry to intrude - but a quick question out of curiousity........

 

Do you think that being a "big fish in a small pond" helped you win the ESL?

 

Do you think your young team were spurred on because, I presume, unlike other smaller fan based clubs in the ESl you had a large vocal support who really urged their side on - win or lose?

 

Did having passionate fans make the players believe they could go all the way in their first season? Did they have something to prove to the supporters which, lets say, other teams and players did not?
