It's all about chances

Trevor Paul's fluff infront of goal to make it 3 - 0 cost us 2 points today.

Chances MUST be taken.

Rothwell dug in and took their chances up to the final whistle ( well 93rd minute ).

I could not understand the substitution of Richie with Paul as he is a Player with zero confidence, and it showed big time, but we now need to look forward to the next match and get 3 points

Ritchie did not look happy to be the forward picked out to be subbed again.

Let me highlight a few of our individual perfomances today.Cousins looked superb at taking high balls and shots struck at him, but was at fault for the first goal.A more experienced keeper would have realised that the ball would hold up on the dry surface and would not have come out of goal.

Campbell played really well,as did Al James until the final few minutes.Rudi run his socks off in midfield, and Magona had a blinder in replacing the unavailable Stevens.

Ritchie showed some good touches up top.Hammett misplaced every single attacking pass today, and Trevor Paul was poor when he came on also.

In summary,we played well enough to win easily today,if only we could have been more clinical up top,and concentrated a bit more near the end of the game.

Perfect summary, I could not believe the change made in the second half, if your 2-0 up & want to take a front man with Ritchie's quality off then you replace with someone similar, at that stage of the game surely it would have been best to put another in midfield & play with one up front or

"if its not broke dont try to fix it".

At the meeting on Thursday Jim stated he would need to improve the side if we got promotion, trust me, even if we dont, that forward line does!

Shocking performances!

AJ, Rudi & co played their hearts out, lets pick it up next week simple stat, win our next 3 games & we are up.

I agree with most of what you've said except that Hannigan was the one who was indecisive to allow the first goal.

The keeper stopped expecting a headed back pass and Hannigan waited for the ball to bounce and the forward slipped between the pair of them and just lobbed the keeper.

Hannigan was entirely at fault for that one as a man with his experience should have just headed it back to the keeper.

I also thought that Velandia was out of his depth against a physical midfield that he had trouble getting control of.

He should have come off at half time.

As for Dave Alan, well nice guy that he is he was left wanting when he didnt need to tackle or touch the striker and just hold him up.

As I think someone else has already said it's about CONCENTRATION for the 90 / 93 mins.

Too often we get caught by the vigour of the opposition we need to get at them a lot faster and with a sense of purpose.

Still looked full of running to me, and able to control a ball!!!

Which is more than can be said of Brian, I'd have left Nial on and taken Hammat & Velandia off.
To leave one up front with Magonna coming to left mid and Matt going to right mid with Woodward at left back.
That way you'd have kept control and the points.
ce la vie

Apart from the one-two with Rudi when we scored....
and the two first time balls that played Matty in during the first half....
and the ball to Trevor, which, despite your skewed view of things, was served up to him on a plate, with fries and a green salad....

I could go on, but I think there's a 1Mb limit on these postings....

Naaah, don't worry about it. Let's face it, we're never going to agree on that particular subject, are we? (Though you do keep spelling his name wrong

Though this is not aimed at you, I fail to understand why, following the dropping of two points due to two defensive errors, people are blaming the forwards!

To be fair ,the defence make two mistakes and are slaughtered.Where as, some of our other playes seem to be immune from criticism, even when they make shedloads of mistakes.A misplaced cross,or an easy miss from six yards is just as crucial,as failing to pick up a player from a set piece, and just as likely to costs us points.

When Glen Hoddle was England manager,he once said that he didn't pick Andy Cole because 'he needs three chances to score one goal'. How many do some of our forwards need?

I still maintain that when Bryan and Trevor are in top form, they are assets to the team.Unfortunalty this season they have made at least four or five bad passes/shots/challenges for every one good one.If you think otherwise you are deluding yourselfs.

Saying that,I will admit that Bryan gives us good balance with his positional play and movement, and does open up space for other players. Its his contibution in possession that can be frustrating.

Just to clarify. Was or was not Trevor Paul stationary before he swung his foot at the ball? The reason he was stationary and not running onto the ball to tap it in, was because the ball was played with not quite enough pace on it ,and slightly behind him...Ie.. he had to stop his run dead, in order to have a shot.YES, the ball in to him was still adequete enough for him to score with, admittedly.

Or was he just waiting for the pass which was delivered after Bryan had beaten the defender and passed to a player in a better position?

Bryan had a good game yesterday. Not his best but good enough.

People may be getting at him for his form earlier in the season. They should not be on his back for his current form. We are not going to have players like Rooney, Crouch etc. but Trevor Pauls was a bad miss as was Paul Campbell's in the first half.

So it goes. We are still second with three to play and I would rather be in our position than Corby's.

So we could have had FOUR points?

THM,

Agree 100%.

You should not be playing Players who are so out of confidence.

As every week and every team, we the supporters appear to be in agreement, but, it is the Manager that has to stand by his decisions.

Trevor should not have been on the park.

Substitutions should have been made in the last 2/3 minutes to disrupt the flow of the game.

Question.

If we know these things, why don't Managers ?
