Billericay 2 AFC Wimbledon 1

Recommended Posts

Not the greatest of games. First half we certainly had the better of it and the 2 - 1 score line was a fair reflection of the game at the time.

Second half was really hoof and hope from both teams, although Winbledon went close a couple of times and we had a couple one on one's with their keeper but that was really it for the football.

On the discipline side, Wimbledon had two sent off...their number nine for punching Scott Fobes in the stomach after the ref blew up and their number 11 for punching Dave Collins. he disgraced himself even further by spitting at a Billericay player as he went off. The ref saw it and had another word with him...

Thats it really. Not the best game in the world but it's results that count and with Hampton and Worthing losing it certainly make the last three games interesting. Personally, I'm taking one game at a time and concentrating on Wed's game against Fisher

Plummer (the 11) has always been filth. Saw him a couple of times for Bristol Rovers, got sent off for them. He then got a 9 match ban when playing for Thurrock for shoveing a lineo after getting sent off.

I thought we deserved to win the game. Our two young centre halves did themselves proud, sadly their only error cost a goal but they'll learn from that. Hodges' delivery was class and in the end that was the main difference between the teams. We battled well from back to front and you have to say on possession and chances (and most importantly goals) we were ahead.

The two AFC players gave the ref no choice and Plummer has disgraced his club for spitting in the face of one of our players.

I thought the AFC fans supported their team well and hopefully if we are in the same league next season we can do without the segregation that I understand AFC recommended for today's game.

I wouldnt blame either of the centre halves for the AFC goal, Millard was superglued to his goal line and would have had every chance of getting to the ball first had he not been

I think if you look at the video clip, you will see that this is not the case. Swaine tries to play offside and gets caught upfield, Brown doesnt do anywhere near enough against Plummer. I think maybe Ricky could be a yard or two further out as a starting position but Barnes makes contact about 12 or 13 yards out so that is largely irrelevant. Barnes shoots from where Swaine should have been (Macca can't get across in time to cover) and Millard in my opinion was probably expecting a better contact from Brown and didnt want to run the risk of Brown heading straight past him.

But in any event as I said in my other post, both very young players and it was a good effort from the pair of them in what was a big game for both players. i think Swaine has probably put himself in the frame to start on Wednesday.

I disagree with Gazz, I thought we were superb, we did what we had to do, we did it well, we won the game.

A very good AFC side were well prepared; they watched us Vs Wealdstone, Margate and Leyton. Both clubs had a game plan and we won out.

I didn't see any "Hoof and Hope"... when Forbes came on in the second half we left Nathan up front and went direct. But at the time we 2-1 up and stopping them playing in midfield. The style change was about winning the game, not hoping.

A big well done to all the players, they worked hard and deserved the win.

AFC lost their discipline through pure frustration, it wasn't a dirty game, we out hustled, out worked and won the majority of 50/50s which resulted in two of their players seeing Red..

Young Rob Swaine's fine performance's in the last three games has won him a contract.

Well done Rob.

Oh, and my Yankee of Our win, Redbridge win, Margate win and Braintree draw come in. Happy Days.

Really? I make that approx. £620 for a £1 Yankee costing £11. You lucky, lucky....

Well done Rob Swaine. Thoroughly enjoyed yesterday. Thought the match had something of "a game of chess" about it. The prep both sides did would explain that.

Happy days inded TC!! Got to be a good omen that. And there's a certain symmetry to next Saturdays fixtures with Redbridge & Margate reversing rolls against Worthing & H&R. This run in could be quite profitable in more ways than one.

Well done Rob - taken to the first team like a duck to water! I take it the contract is for next season and not 4 games of this

And (another) well done to John and all concerned with the under 18s - 3 youth team products as regular squad members is excellent, particularly considering 2 years ago we didn't have a youth set-up here!

Like TC I thought we played very well and kept our discipline when Wimbledon didn't.

It was nice to see a decent crowd and fair play to the away supporters who took their defeat well.

My only disappointment was the poor quality football from Wimbledon, they have such a good away record and yet there was only one team trying to play football on Saturday. Their magnificant support doesn't seem to be quite transmitting to the pitch.

Good luck for Wednesday to our lads.

Well done 'Ricay, good result against the Wombles!

We had an eventful day, still trying to work out how we won at Wealdstone. Our two strikers (Watts and Taylor) failed to turn up (missing) so we were forced to play a defender and midfielder up front. We also only had two subs (defenders).

It was like the Alamo for most of the game, we managed to nick a couple in the second half but dispite the boys doing there best to throw it away Wealdstone couldn't hit a barn door. Pullen made some great saves it has to be said.

It was so desperate we had Duku up front for most of the second half. As regards to Wednesday we're a team ravaged by injury and suspension. Our only two fit strikers never bothered to show!

I hope they're both sacked, can't have that!

Credit to the Fish who did turn up, backs to the wall performance but we're there for the taking.

No lull intended, we don't have any strikers available and we look old and tired...

I don't know TC. Our playoff spot is now guaranteed but before Wealdstone we were only 6 points clear of sixth place. Wealdstone was still a must win. We're beginning to wonder where the logic in signing Richards lies. We needed cover for Scannell (suspended) so we go and sign a player with an even longer suspension!

Now our two strikers have gone awol, which means we've only got 13 available players.

Its so bad we were forced to field Ross Wareham as a second half sub, he lasted two minutes and came off crocked without touching the ball.

we also had Michael Smith sent off, the assistent manager sent off...Justin looks like his aged 10 years in three months.

Even the coach driver is underperforming, they got lost and to the fans bemusement the team and staff came running down the field half a mile from the ground with kit bags in tow at 2:35pm...even Justin built up a sweat...its a shambles. I'm getting drunk on Wednesday!
