Just got back - Good all round display - looked solid at the back and as a result Mitten never really tested.

Mitten - 7.

Oates - 7.

Allman - 7.

Trott - 9.Outstanding in defence and as a leader.

Keister - 7.

Protheroe - 8.Again good ball control and distribution.

Deen - 7.Injured early second half,replaced by Donovan - 7.

Yiga - 6.Not one of his better games, replaced by Sesay - 7 just before Hockton scored in 86 minute.

Brayley - 6.Not the performance he can deliver.

Hockton - 8/9.Made and took his goal well, could have had another.Never stopped running.

Knight - 7.Gives us something different.

Subs not played - Edwards,Gradley,Standen.

Great to get 3 points, good all round competent display against a team sixth in league, who never really troubled us.

MOM - Trott,followed by Hockton.

Would love him to sign for us permanently.

Even if he won his appeal, which I suspect is unlikely, his contract expires at the end of the season. Mind you I would be suprised if you could afford him.

Flat back 4 and we win 1-0. Coincidence? Edwards and Standen dropped and we win 1-0. Coincidence? Who said we didn't have the players suited to playing this system? <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

We have the players Mike its just that the wrong ones were out there. Less of the preferential treatment for some & more of the "play if you're good enough","play if you are in form" makes a big difference.Well done Robin Trott.Theres no room for sentiment in this game.In both games we have played this season against Hampton (& won) both times & given a good solid performances DS wasnt playing.Makes a difference having 11 men out there instead of 10 & quarter. Sorry but its a fact i.m.o. Coincidence or not?

Very pleased with the line up. Thought everyone out there was there on merit. I think CK had assembled a good squad (well a good 14 or so). Just couldnt get them playing. Lets face it the formation was wrong and the lack of willingness to change was wrong. The warm up before the games were poor to say the least. Warm ups used to be good in the Southern league days and early Conference days so I don't know what happened. But who cares, that is in the past. Very pleased that Trotty has got this very good set up in place so quickly. The players seemed delighted that they could express themselves better in a 4-4-2 formation. Grateful for his efforts but hope we can replace DS in the summer as well as Bill.

Cookie, as much as I hate to be picky with your statistical analysis, I do feel that you base your assumptions on rather shaky ground.

In fact, in the 17 games, cup and league, we have won this season, DS has played in 12.

Therefore, in terms of games we have won, that equates to a success rating of:

Cup: 62.5%
League: 85.5%
Overall: 70%

Not bad...

Furthermore, if you were really going to equate the wins with Hampton and Richmond, to make the statistic relevant you would have to compare the two wins with matches against the same team where both teams were identical and we had lost. If you cannot do that, it is like comparing apples with oranges.

Of course, that also applies to the winning stats, in that we should compare like with like, so it would only be truly valid if all the teams selections were exactly the same, and all the players were of exactly the same fitness levels in each game, mental attitude, weather and pitch conditions, etc. etc.

I think we all know that you have a particular issue with this one player - fine, but it is very illogical to lay all our season's failings at his door. Bit hard on Chris as well, if our poor results have not been his fault. Perhaps if football was a solo player game I might be able to agree with you on this, but it is a bit more complicated than that to me.
