Slough Town v Folkestone Invicta: MATCH THREAD

Instead of continually knocking him I think Ashley deserves some praise today. He was on a hiding to nothing. If we had lost it would have been down to him and now we've won some people will say it was nothing to do with him.

On the subject of Woody, I think he let himself and the team down today which could have cost us the game. Being the skipper, I do think Steve Daly could have done a bit more to calm him down.

As for not playing for us again I think this is a bit of an over the top reaction. Ok, he is a bit of a hot-head and needs to be told in no uncertain terms that his behaviour today was totally unacceptable but in his defence he has played for us in virtually every game this season and has always given us 100%.

I think an appology to the club and the supporters would be in order and maybe a game or two on the bench and then gage his re-action from this.

to be honest, his distribution has been largely on the poor side and seems to send his passes out of play, but he is still one of our best defenders. Having said that, he's been a lippy twat all season and this was bound to happen and if he's going to be that much of a liability I'd rather he was someone else's liability

Agree totally RR. I'm not sure Woody is a left back or ever will be. Going forward and running at defenders is when he's at his best. Woody knows he let himself and the team down by getting sent off yesterday and will be looking to prove a point in the next couple of games.

I'm not sure he even gives us that much going forward to be honest. Compare him to Haddow....for every ten occasions Haddow got the ball on the left you'd get eight decent crosses. With Woody, you'd be lucky to get two.

His temperament is just another reason I'd rather see him out of the side. He's been trying to talk himself into a red card all season. That said, he's btter than any alternative we have at present which says more about our small squad than his ability. All in my opinion, obviously!

I thought we played quite well.

Carbon and Alexis were my best for the day.

I thought Clark was extremely brave to go in for that save, and I'm glad he seems to be alright. It is always very worrying when the first thing the ref does is turn a player on their side so they don't swallow their tongue.

Woody, what can we say, a complete idiot for constant talk back to the ref, team-mates, oppo, and oppo supporters.

"Manager" - did quite well, apart from the fact that any manager of any modicom of footballing pedigree would have taken Woody off when seeing him continuing to bicker after his first yellow.

Lastly...WELL DONE to the players for pulling off a good result against a team that were supposed to be flying at the moment. We even had their supporters moaning "This is the worst we have played in months"

KEEP IT GOING REBELS

and welcome back Eddie

A very good performance by the players who were playing as a team (except woodruff).

Not sure who switched the players on for this game - may have been the cameras and Ashley - bit like the walsall game, or if Eddie and Westy had done that in the week, or if it was the noise from the crowd that has been lacking for a while.

I belive that all the players deserve credit for today in turning in a solid performance in poor conditions, with cameras on them, and against a side who beat them convincingly earlier in the season and have had a good run recently.

Eddie needs to have a serious talk with Woodruff about his future at the club as what happened in this game is not acceptable - maybe being out due to the red card may help him focus and see the error of his ways!

Clarkes injury is worrying but at least we have a sub keeper now unlike at the start of the season.

Well done to the team and a fitting tribute to June.

Having spoken with Eddie after the game he said he wouldn't have taken Woody off either. It's the players own responsibility to control themselves during the game, which Woody has done during the forty odd games he's played for us.

Whilst we're getting on players backs for back chatting the referee and linesmen maybe we should start with Masters and Daly who back chat just as much if not more than Woody.

Not sure I agree with Eddie's reasoning here.

If a manager sees that a player has 'lost it' and he has time to do something about it before he gets the red card, I think it is his responsibility to get the player off the pitch.

Otherwise you could be in the situation where you are involved in relegation/promotion games and the player or players who were sent off could miss those games.

They shouldnt be mentioned in the same breath (Woody & Haddow) how many goals did Haddow's crosses provide for Hodgey...loads

All I ever seem to see Woody do is go flying forward & lose the ball through his poor touch, he's a liability defensively and obviously mentaly as well !

From what i heard something REALLY got to Woody, dont know what but its sounded like someone had said something really out of order, BUT (Before i get everyone having a go at me for sticking up for him) The sending off was inevitable 10 minutes before it happened. would like to know what was said/done to provoke that from him.

Heybridge he was lucky to stay on after about 20mins - once again back chatting to the ref.

To be honest hes not that great a player as has been said, 9/10 times a pass/clearence down the line will be sliced out of play.
