Slough Town v Folkestone Invicta: MATCH THREAD

Played well all round. Alexis and Steele really stood out for me. We've got more problems at the back than just Woody, problem for me is more in the centre. Think he generally handles the amount of stick very well. Having watched several of the last few games from the other end there is a lack of communication and respect for each other amongst all of the defenders and keepers. Thought the skipper should have done more to calm Woody down rather than leaving it to Jay to run across the other side of the pitch.

Alexis was outstanding today but i'm really surprised nobody has mentioned Ballard & G. Ballard was a work horse today constantly workinghad a very good game. G he was a livewire constantly tormenting folkstones back four with his pace, and he was running all day as he was up front by himself. Chasing lost causes all game. I do feel sorry for charlie tho, great goal then unlucky to get substituted.

I think we've come to expect that quality of performance from G. I agree he was excellent today, particularly when leading the line on his own. The Folkestone defender looked terrified every time the ball was knocked forward as he was running rings around them

Leon Woodruffe really needs to sort himself out. I can honestly say I don't think I've been impressed with him at any point this season, but today took the biscuit. It looked obvious after his first booking that he was going to get himself dismissed. Can't say I'll be sorry if he's not here next season.

With that said, it was a great victory and that's a credit to the other 10 players. Shame that Ide had to be sacrificed due to Woodruffe's stupidity, after getting his first Slough goal.

I hope Ashley Hames enjoyed the experience, but I'm not really sure how much he had to do with the result. We did well, especially in defence, but Folkestone were pretty average. He did get his prediction right though, so fair play to him. Also, hope Clark Masters is ok after the injury he sustained.

great performance after the lads especially following woodys red card. also thought folkstone were poor, but i do not believe that ashley would have had too much affect on the score, these guys are proffesionals they dont need to be told how to play football by some guy who knows nothing about them, the lads played amazingly well today.

well done rebels!!!

I'm sorry, but it's hardly as though Hames has had any influence on anything this week. He's been led by Westy today and I'm sure the players were well briefed in the week for more or less business as usual despite the guy doing the showpiece.

lol thats basically what i meant!!

im sure for the cameras it looked like he had control but after what happened at the reserve match im sure he did not choose our team, and behind the cameras eddie and westy were giving out the normal orders.

Certainly after Woodruffe got himself sent off, Westy went straight towards the stand to speak to Eddie (who was sitting there) to find out what changes he wanted to make.

Hames was there just to look the part and shout encouragement at the players - although he did tell G to "Stop [****!!****] showboating!"

Let's face it, Hames was never really going to influence the result, yet some people would have been bleating on about it had we lost today (to a team who had won their last 3)

As for the attendance, I'm not sure if it included freebies. I'm pretty sure there were more than 300 there today.
