Mr Piper

There has been criticism of Mr Piper on this forum, including some abuse.

Those responsible may not be aware that Mr Piper is a long-standing supporter of MFC who has spent many thousands of pounds on the club over the years.

Only last season we were expecting the club to fold until Mr Piper managed to talk outside investors into funding its survival.

Mr Piper has made it clear that he has great respect for Chris Kinnear and was distraught to see him go. Those were his exact words.

He did not try to blame others for the decision but made it clear that the situation was unacceptable to the board of directors as a whole. He also has the guts to face the press and the fans to explain the facts.

Those criticising Mr Piper should also remember that Margate FC is a commercial company whose directors have to make decisions based on reality, not sentiment.

I do not know Mr Piper personally, but this week must have been very hard for him. Abuse on this forum is not needed and won’t help the club.

Managers come and go. It happens in football, even to the greatest. We fans have to get over it and get behind the team if we want to continue to enjoy watching football.

Have your say by all means, but please understand the facts.

Good post Chris!

Unfortnately some will NEVER like him but I think the large majority understand and can see just what he HAS done.I think some are just hacked off with not knowing anything about the ground situation thats all & are using that frustration in amongst this decision. Maybe some other Director should have made the decision then he would have been totally excempt I should think. But as you say he had the balls to stand up & make that decison so for his balls(no pun intended) alone people should respect that.

Up until now he hasnt let us or the club down at all.I sincerely hope the future success can be put down to him too as I am sure it will be.

Again Chris, a very very good post. Well done!!

I considered posting this message the last time Piper came up, just after the sacking. No time like the present.

The ground was re-instated only with the money the Directors put in, KP included. There was no way the club funded it by itself. As for the paying of the players, that wasnt this year, that was last year and all the bills were paid. I am no KP fan and I doubt anyone is shocked to hear that.

I must say, cliff1 reminds me a lot of me when I signed up here <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

what has he done apart from not pay the players and make a mess up with the ground

Perhaps you could do better cliff - care to make a contribution? £100,000 would be a good start; it would see us through to the end of the season and go some way towards meeting close season expenses.

I always admire someone who puts their money where their mouth is.

Its a forum JJ. The same as we all disagree on players performances or teams results we all should have the right to air our views. Its not what we want to hear but we cant put a deaf ear to that which we wish not to hear.It wouldnt be fair would it!

I havent seen any ABUSE directed at mr Piper i think we all understand he has mfc at heart. I for one would like to know on the other hand who demolished the ground. Before getting concent my money would say jp was the instigator. In time the truth will out.

Can we speak to the Forum administrator about unwanted comments like those above?

Alright then JJ, here is a full and complete explanation of my comments:

Some contributors on other threads have posted against Mr Piper, whom I regard as having done a great deal for the football club I support. One or two have used terms of abuse which have been deleted by the site’s auto filter.

I started this thread to put across my views on the subject, which I know are supported by many other fans, including, I would hope, yourself JJ.

Unsurprisingly someone has come out with the old chestnuts about Mr Piper knocking the ground down and not paying the players, allegations which most of us know are unfounded.

This contributor may be a Rams fan or merely a mischief-maker as Cookie suspects in his post. This is supported by the fact that the same individual started a ‘lets boycott matches’ thread.

However he (or she) might just be a youngster who has no idea of what Mr Piper has done for the club, or indeed what it takes to invest in football.

Therefore I felt moved to add a deliberately ironic post indicating the sort of money involved, while contrasting the input of Mr Piper, who has put his money in, with the attitude of those who do nothing but snipe from the sidelines.

So there you go. Shall we move on now?

I will be supporting the boys this afternoon. Perhaps will see you there JJ?
